Ch. 300 Awakening the Divine Sun Power

Previously, Russell had no choice but to convert divine power into magical power.

He wasn't favored by the experts in the field of white magic, like Vishanti, nor did he want to be swayed by dark magic practitioners like Dormammu.

To ensure he had an endless supply of magical power, he had to convert divine power into magical power.

This practice indeed granted him remarkable spellcasting talent, but it wasn't a long-term solution.

Moreover, he wasn't a full-fledged mage by any means.

Now, with the Divine Thunder Power and a wealth of divine power knowledge, he intended to let his divine power manifest its true potential.

The "Power of Thor" reward had brought his divine power back to where it should be. However, the Divine Thunder Power wasn't his own awakened divine power; it was given by the system.

Though he didn't know what kind of divine power he would eventually awaken, he aimed to steer his divine power toward the domain of the sun as much as possible.

Hence, his current plan to awaken the Divine Sun Power.

Inside one of the magical training halls in the Golden Palace.

Russell was the only one in the vast training hall.

Instead of standing, he floated in the center of the hall.

To be precise, he was floating in a cross-legged position.

Currently, he was silently channeling his divine power and allowing his divine power, which now possessed some lightning attributes, to sense or touch the Sun domain that he had never explored before.

His goal was to study and awaken the Divine Sun Power, a plan known to Odin and Thor.

In fact, Odin had specially arranged this training hall for him.

Here, he could safely undergo divine power awakening without worrying about causing any damage to the Golden Palace.

While Russell had never been in direct contact with the Divine Sun Power before, and there were currently no awakened Divine Sun Power users in Asgard, he had found several good starting points.

The first starting point was his past "sunbathing" sessions. Although the sun he basked in before was purely sunlight and didn't contain any divine power, at least in terms of attributes, the sunlight emitted by the sun bore a high resemblance to the sunlight created by Divine Sun Power.

The only difference was that pure sunlight lacked the so-called sacred properties and special effects against undead and other malevolent creatures associated with Divine Sun Power.

The second starting point was the treasures he had obtained from Vanaheimr.

The current reigning God-King of the Vanir, was the God of the Ocean Njord. Therefore, most of the Vanir's divine power research was related to Njord.

Although Njord was known as the God of the Ocean, his jurisdiction wasn't limited to the sea alone. The domains of the sea, storms, summer, and others fell under Njord's divine power authority.

What Russell needed right now was the part of Njord's divine power related to summer.

Besides these two starting points, Russell's final starting point was the God of Light Balder, who had once existed in Asgard.

In orthodox Norse mythology, the God of Light Balder was the brother of Thor, the God of Thunder.

However, evidently, in this universe, Thor didn't have a brother named Balder.

While their relationship might differ in this world, the God of Light Balder had still existed in Asgard.

It's just that in this world, the God of Light Balder was a deity from the same era as Odin and had fallen thousands of years ago.

Although Balder the God of Light had fallen, records of him and research into the Divine Light Power had been preserved.

Balder's Divine Light Power was the third starting point Russell had chosen for himself.

Balder's Divine Light Power, Njord's Summer Authority, along with Russell's previous insights and strengthening experiences gained from countless sunbathing sessions, formed the foundation of Russell's research into Divine Sun Power.

Of course, the Power of Thor he had already acquired was also an essential reference.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have had frequent discussions with Thor about insights and techniques related to Power of Thor over the past few months.

If it weren't inconvenient to disturb Odin, he wouldn't even mind discussing the true nature of Power of Odin's or what can be known as Odin Force and Thor Force.

To better research the Divine Sun Power, he would utilize all the divine power knowledge he had learned during this time.

As long as it didn't conflict with the Divine Sun Power, he was willing to try anything.

Although he had made all the preparations, awakening the Divine Sun Power was still not a simple task.

However, Russell was mentally prepared for a protracted battle.

Whether it took a month, two months, half a year, or even a year, as long as he didn't awaken the Divine Sun Power, he wouldn't easily leave Asgard.

After all, Odin hadn't asked him to leave at any specific time, and he didn't mind staying here for several years, essentially living here for free.

Once he officially started awakening the Divine Sun Power, his entire focus was on his internal divine power.

With all his thoughts and attention concentrated on his internal divine power, he gradually lost his sense of the outside world. He felt as though he had entered a peculiar state of consciousness, detached from time and space.

...

"Hasn't he come out yet?"

Inside the Golden Palace, Loki, dressed in green mage robes, asked Thor.

"No, do you need to see him?"

Thor, who was having lunch, asked Loki.

"Why would I need to see him? I'm just curious about how far he has progressed by now."

Loki feigned disinterest.

"Other than himself, no one knows how far he has come."

Thor quickly replied.

"Hasn't his servant seen him? He still needs to eat and rest, right?"

Loki continued to ask.

"The doors to the training hall have been closed since he entered."

"As for eating and resting, with his constitution, he should be fine without food or drink for a month or two."

Thor didn't see any issue with Russell's extended period of seclusion.

"One or two months?"

Upon hearing Thor's response, Loki shook his head and smiled.

"Is there a problem?"

Thor looked at Loki with some confusion.

"It seems you don't care much about your Earth friend; he has been in that training hall for more than one or two months."

"Three days shy, he has been inside for a hundred days."

A hundred days?

Thor was momentarily stunned when he heard Loki's words.

Russell had been in seclusion for so long?

Though Thor didn't say anything, Loki could tell what was going through his mind.

"He's been without food or drink for a hundred days, which isn't an easy feat even for Asgardians."

"Moreover, he's not an Asgardian."

"If you want to open the door, go find Father yourself. I won't."

Thor refused without hesitation.

The training hall that Russell was currently using had been arranged by Odin himself.

Apart from opening it from the inside, only Odin could open it from the outside.

"Well, forget it. He's your friend, not mine," Loki said. He had no intention of going to find Odin.

Although he was indeed curious about Russell's current state, like whether Russell had died inside the training hall, Loki had no desire to seek out Odin just to satisfy his curiosity.

Loki always had an inexplicable fear of Odin.

Moreover, Odin and Frigga were among the very few in Asgard who could see through Loki's true intentions at a glance.

Although Thor hadn't fallen for it, after Loki's reminder, he also began to feel that something was amiss.

While Russell's strength was commendable, he wasn't an Asgardian; he was an Earthling. A human going without food or drink for nearly a hundred days didn't seem right no matter how you looked at it.

After careful consideration, Thor decided to wait a few more days. If Russell didn't come out in a few days, he would go to Odin and ask him to open the doors to the training hall to check on Russell's condition.

Having made up his mind, Thor paid no further attention to Loki and focused on enjoying the food in front of him.

Inside the training hall.

Russell had no idea about the events outside. Since entering the peculiar state that felt like an out-of-body experience and entering an indescribable and unique space of consciousness, he had lost all senses of the outside world.

What he could sense now was a feeling akin to floating in the vast ocean. However, instead of seawater, it was divine power that surrounded him. More precisely, it was divine power shifting between different attributes.

Although this was his first time experiencing this, he had an idea of what he was facing.

In simpler terms, he was currently in the stage just before awakening a new divine power.

In the studies of divine power in Asgard and Vanaheimr, the environment he was currently in had a fitting name.

The Ocean of Divine Power!

According to records, this was the birthplace of divine power. Here, various common and uncommon divine powers existed.

To escape the confines of the Ocean of Divine Power and create their own divine power island, individuals entering it needed to find a divine power that suited them.

In normal circumstances, Russell, who already possessed the "Power of Thor," would see his divine power island created by the Divine Thunder Power as soon as he entered the Ocean of Divine Power.

However, it was evident that his Divine Thunder Power wasn't awakened naturally. So, when his consciousness entered the Ocean of Divine Power, he needed to "float" in it like others attempting to awaken divine powers, for a period.

For different individuals, the time spent "floating" in the Ocean of Divine Power could vary significantly. In the fastest cases, it could take only one day in the real world to create their own divine power island. If it took longer, they might need to "float" in the Ocean of Divine Power for a lifetime.

A real lifetime!

Since he had lost his senses of the outside world, Russell had no idea how long he had been "floating." However, his consciousness informed him that his current condition was still good, and he could "float" for quite a while longer.

Furthermore, not far from him was a divine power island created by lightning divine power. That was his divine power island.

To be precise, it was the divine power island given to him by the system!

Since it wasn't created by him, he currently had no way to land on it; he could only float in the Ocean of Divine Power and look at the divine power island that should have belonged to him.

Alas!

It's complicated!

In fact, if he wanted to land on that lightning divine power island, he could have done so a long time ago. Shortly after entering the Ocean of Divine Power, the lightning divine power in the ocean showed great enthusiasm towards him, surrounding him like an affectionate dog.

As long as he agreed to the lightning divine power's "companionship" request, he could have ended his drifting and stepped onto the divine power island that had long been completed.

Not only that, if he agreed, his lightning divine power island could expand further, gaining more lightning divine power.

However, in normal circumstances, agreeing to the lightning divine power's "companionship" request wasn't an issue.

After all, lightning divine power was a powerful divine power in its own right.

But the problem was that the lightning divine power wasn't the most suitable divine power for a Kryptonian physique.

While the lightning divine power was undeniably powerful, its compatibility with a Kryptonian physique was rather low.

Moreover, as a resolute individual, he was determined that he would only "marry" the Divine Sun Power!

Even if the lightning divine power was as affectionate as a puppy, in his heart, there was only room for the Divine Sun Power.

With a helpless sigh, he once again began to influence the Divine Sun Power in the Ocean of Divine Power.

Perhaps because it sensed his enthusiasm or maybe it was following the saying, "give everything to the end," after drifting in the Ocean of Divine Power for an unknown period, the Divine Sun Power, which had previously ignored him, began to approach him.

Upon noticing this, Russell felt joy in his heart and showed more enthusiasm.

To say he was showing enthusiasm was essentially allowing the Divine Sun Power to gradually merge and transform his own divine power, making his divine power gradually convert into Divine Sun Power.

Time passed bit by bit.

After an unknown duration spent floating in the Ocean of Divine Power, Russell finally opened his eyes.

Divine Sun Power!

The divine power within him had finally exhibited the attributes of Divine Sun Power.

The appearance of Sun attributes meant that he had finally embarked on the right path.

With attributes in place, his next task was to add authorities to his Divine Sun Power. He had long considered which authorities his Divine Sun Power should possess.

Firstly, sacred, radiant, and purifying authorities were definitely necessary. Secondly, authorities related to scorching heat, high temperatures, and energy were also indispensable. Finally, some rarer authorities like witness, covenant, order, summer, and daylight, which could assist himself and spread faith, were added.

Now, Russell was like someone playing with Lego blocks, continuously adding elements to his work, named Divine Sun Power.

Once he successfully added the desired authorities to his Divine Sun Power, the wreckage of the lightning divine power island that had sunk from the ocean floor flew out and voluntarily merged with the newly-formed Divine Sun Power island, expanding the area of the Divine Sun Power island by about half.
