Looking back, looking forward

NB: This is one of those long posts, but it does contain important information so please read. 

It's that time of year, when  thoughts naturally think about the year that's past and the year to come. 

I don't know about you, but 2022 was a real mixed bag for me. I came into the year with some really big plans and even bigger ideas for content - but the universe (and YouTube) had other plans. 

Between close family health issues, my own health, YouTube deleting Project Horror, and me being an idiot and taking on too much work, my big plans got kicked sideways.

On the plus side, I've learned a lot this year and met some new really cool actors (Chloe, Danni, Sophia, Bambi, etc). And it's also been a joy to see our established actors continue to grow (Kasey, Amber, Kelly, and Katie, etc).

So what does 2023 hold in store?

I really want to push my boundaries in three key areas in 2023

• Story-telling
• Special FX
• Film-making

To make sure I stand the best chance of achieving that, I have quit one of my side jobs so I'll have more time to dedicate to Grindhouse North. 

Also I will taking on fewer customs so I can manage my time better. In the past, I've been guilty of taking on too many customs around the same time. On the practical side, this has created a bottleneck in terms of editing. On the creative side, it's time away from working on the three key areas above, as well as time away from working on my own ideas and suggestions from the community. 

To be honest, nothing drastic is going to change in terms of the process and costings. Where people will see a difference is the lead-in time, eg, it might be 8-10 weeks before I can shoot it and it might be 4-8 weeks before the edit is ready. 

I appreciate the net result of that might be that people take their customs to other studios - and I'm okay with that. I love doing customs, but the important thing to remember is that Grindhouse North is a creative endeavour for me and not a commercial project. 

I'll be doing a longer post about customs and how they will work in the next week or so. If you have any questions, just pop them in the comments and I'll answer them and make sure I include those points in the customs post.

Special Events

So we'll be kicking off 2023 with some special events. I'll be releasing Killing Mitzy North throughout January. Neave and Grace star in this tale of gangland revenge told over 4 episodes. It's super gory, with some of overkill shootings, frenzied stabbing, disembowelling, and machine-gunnings - and there's a garrotte strangling thrown in too.

I'll be doing more and more multi-episode stories in 2023. I wanted to do it in 2022 but never got the chance, so I'm even more determined to make it happen in 2023. 

Of course none of this is possible without your support. I am - as always - humbled and grateful for your ongoing support.
