I didn't read through all the comments, but they brought Glenn back from the dumpster situation because his death was PIVOTAL in this story. It was one of the biggest moments in the comics and if they left it as just him, it'd be too predictable. So they made it a double death while still using his... Glenn's death is the one that would impact as many of the group as it did.

It's been debated whether it was Glenn or Darryl that got Glenn killed. I say 50/50. Glenn crashed out about Maggie first. Negan gave the warning not to do that s** again then Darryl crashed out. Both crash outs were legitimate and driven by emotion.

The thing is Negan was always going to take out at least one of our group. Now if we had let the Negan biker group take us back to Alexandria maybe it could have been one of the random of no consequence residence or it would have still been one of the real ones then he would have forced them to work for him. In this case since they tried Darryl, Sasha, and Abraham they got RP'd instead. This was right after Darryl got jacked by Dwight who was definitely running from Negan's group at the time. I think the compound preemptive strike was a bad move without more intel. Maggie and Carol taking out the kill floor brigade. Dwight taking out Denise and the guys that were on the way to Alexandria taken out by Carol was the retaliation Negan was talking about. Rick and family definitely ran up the body count but it was always going to end up with them kneeling and losing someone. So the only options were to fight, run, or surrender.

I never could get into blaming Daryl for Glenn's death. I've spent years teaching our kids that regardless of what someone does, you are responsible for your actions. Even if your sister did something to you that made you so mad you want to bite her, you should not bite her. I blame Negan.

I have not picked it up since then so I’m nervous to pick it back up with you guys, but I know I won’t watch it by myself. Also the way Denise died is actually the way Abraham died in the comics. Glenn did die by Negan’s hand in the comics and Maggie did crash out on Rick. But. I know she was grieving, but what did she expect Rick to do?

Brandon I normally ride with you but not on this one. Rick did the right thing because we don't have the numbers. he backed down for Michonne Carl Judith and the others. But you're right Get Back Must Be Had. But we need to regroup and plan. Negan won this battle, but you know our people don't lay down and take crap. They have always fought for what they have and this is no different. Also if we was following Negan from the start I don't think I would be interested in watching him smashed heads in every week. I think Michonne is also a great candidate as a the wise elder, at least for the next generation. I mean, she was the one who held strong while the group was breaking down on the way to Terminus. It was Mochonne was still fighting even when Glen. Was just over it after Beth died and they got to Noah's fallen community. He didn't even. Want to try to go to D.C. She'd already went through her heavily dark time very early in the apocalypse, before she even met Andrea. When we officially met her in season 3, she was moreso.in the mental place tbat season 5 Rick was in, which is why she knows how to check him(and basically everyone else, honestly) because she already went through her0 apocalyptic bottom.. Michonne's WAY ahead of the curve from everyone else. Both in survival ability (how many characters do we know for what seemed to be a very extensive amount of time? Carol was like maybe 2 days before she found Tyrese. The only ones who could probably outdo Michonne in that regard are Daryl & Morgan). And she has that great balance if being a non-hesitant, very efficient body catcher, who knows how not to cross the line and hold tight onto her humanity. Do what needs to be done, but never forgetting who SHE is, and reminding people of who they are. Ever since she made that decision, in 4x09 after the prison fell, to stop running away to isolate herself and not "living"(see, ahead of the curb because other characters like Abe doesn't start talking about iving" in season 5, hut mainly season 6), Michonne has just been on it non-stop. She wasn't lying to Rock when she said she was done taking breaks, and she hadn't. Even Deanna(Abe kinda asked her this as well) was like, "You got everyone here and have been looking/taking care of everyone else. Okay, now what? What do you want for YOU?" (when she finally allowed herself to process what it was she really DID want for herself, she realized that she already had it this whole time:Rick/Carl/Judith, fitting that SHE was holding Judith standing outside of Carl's infirmary room while Rick was in there waiting. "You can't help me. It worked out for YOU. Cant you see that?" -Sasha). Glenn & Maggie, especially the latter, started in season 4 in the premiere when they thought she was pregnant, but it ass a false alarm, Glenn was terrified at the idea of them having a baby after Lori but Maggie wanted to (but they also didn't go through the darkness Michonne did and they were literally still since they were still newlyweds, but Maggie DID experience that trauma regarding delivering Lori's baby, so it makes sense that SHE would be "ahead of the curb in THAT regar before Glenn did, who was constantly still in surival mode and hadn't hit the prison, but he probably got there after almost dying from the swine flue, then the prison falling, causing him to lose his wife who knows where). Michonne has probably some of the best mental balance than all of them especially when so calculating the characters' mental fortitude(most characters in Team Family haven't lost a child, at least not in the apocalypse-Michonne & Abe were the only known ones. Shoot, she's already what I refer to as Rick's anchor, so in a sense, he has his Hershel. His new Hershel just happens to be a fine, non-elder sista that'll knocked him out and rhen watch him sleep it off like the angry wife that made her drunk husband who came stumbling home @3 am saying many crazy, out of pocket things that he won't remember a word of in the morning, sleeping on the couch, but also be getting his mind right through, ummm, OTHER means lol(We love us a multi-method Queen 👀😆)... Long story short, if there's anyone's judgement on this show that I'd put my full trust in over anyone else, whether it's about a situation, a person, etc.,(unless it's a specific skillset like Eugene with science, or Daryl regarding outdoor living/survival), or if I could pick only one character from the show to partner with in the zombie apocalypse, I would put my life in Michonne's hands every time...

I was excited for this episode because I hoped that I would hear something that was always apparent to me but I’ve never heard any other reactor mention. I hoped that Addison and Brandon, with their constant references to scripture, would draw a parallel between the story of Abraham and Isaac on the rock with Negan telling Rick to harm his son and then withdrawing the demand once Rick showed complete submission to Negan, and at the last moment, Brandon did. It made me very happy. I can’t express how much I love the deep, philosophical discussions I have seen on your reactions and I just want you to know that you’re appreciated. ❤️ P.S. I’m really digging your new third reactor. He has laser focus and it’s interesting to see his black and white stance coupled with your grays. I’m really enjoying this.

We definitely sympathize with Rick more bc we’ve been with him since the beginning. However, adison is also right that negan and Rick go about killing differently. Negan’s whole thing is to basically take over the community and kill someone to set an example. With Rick he doesn’t go out seeking people to kill or to take advantage of. When Rick came to Alexandria he was more feral and at the time he realized how weak everyone was so he was prepared to kill them for his group to survive. Brandon is right that Rick just takes advantage of the situation handed to him whereas negan obviously goes looking for situations

We've seen everyone loose their innocence throughout the seasons, Rick, then Carl... Carol etc... but this episode is where the viewers lost theirs. When Negan said 'it sucks, the moment you realize that you don't know sh*t'... I think that line was also meant for us. We thought we knew our group, no one was stronger, smarter or better... Rick was the man and will always be the man.... this episode changed everything. Also, if Rick killed Negan in the RV then the saviors would have killed our entire group. They were all being held hostage and there is no way Rick could have axed Negan at that point.

Adison read the situation really well. Brandon and Osafa we're way too confident man. I get how much you hate the man, I hate him too, but damn. Rick was definitely scared shitless. He would've been about to crash out if he'd been alone and wasn't surrounded by the majority of his family. Hell he wouldn't have crashed out if it had JUST been Carl. Also Negan only lied about killing everyone back home too. They're much weaker than our main group members here, and more likely to make a deal. He definitely would've offed every person in the lineup if Rick pushed him that far. Both of you were acting like they would just drop their guns and say "oh alright" if Rick offed Negan in the RV. The leadership ring of the saviors are full of guys almost just as bad or worse than Negan. There's a line of succession here.

Addison, I believe you are absolutely correctly on why Negan snatched him up and went for that ride. Go right back to the opening scene, shich literally takes place right after kills Glenn and gives Rick his "What?". Rick immediately straight up told him, "I'm gonna kill you." And even REPEATED it when Negan asked him to and processed to keep going with, "Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow. But I'm gonna kill you." Negan was absolutely GOBSMACKED that after clipping both of Rick's nuts in front of his own son's like that in such a brutal manner, that this man was still ready for the smoke. He this whole group was gonna be a problem(I mean, he already peeped Carl's energy and he's the baby of the squad), and he knew that if he didn't get Rick tamed fast, then this was gonna be a waste of resources for nothing. Hr knew he needed to try and break him in a different way. And even while he tried to use both physical and psychological power over him by putting him in danger while making him process what just even happened under the threat of what could. He was making RICK realize what Negan had already figured out, which is what Addison said. Negan may end up having kill every single last one of them and they both know he'll do it to make a point. Because if one of their people's just got a whole second person killed and the leader is STILL getting Hella gully? Yeah. He got a BIG problem line up before him and he knew it. But killing the group would make them a martyrs, especially if they got their leader still in tact, and could make them want to retaliate. The man's smart...

When Addison seized that they weren't even halfway through the episode lol. To be fair, it's taking me like 2 days to get a quarter through. I keep stopping and coming back later. I think it's Addision's reaction that keeps making me stop. I see why y'all took that break and did Scary Movie 2 instead 😭. Giving Addision all of the vrual hugs. Glennsince we heard his voice through the radio at the end of episode 1. So I understand, even though I was prepared for it to happen because of the comics, I still wasn't ready. There was honestly sooo much more they could have, especially since I feel like they got a bit lazy with his story, ESPECIALLY. We lowkey barely know anything about him when you think about it. Mainly just his character on who he is as a person. That and he was a pizza delivery boy with parents(in the comics, he was delivering pizza because he was jn debt, if I'm not mistaken. I've only played S1, E1 of the Telltale Games, which are canon to the comics, but Glenn in the game was born & raised in Macon, Georgia, the town where we meet him on there. Macon is also where Michonne was going to search for The Governor at before the illness struck the prison). Alright let me continue watching...

I always say with Red Wedding, with Rob, Mama Stark TOLD him to that hr can't just be renigging on his deal like that and to leave that becasue there were going to be consequences if he didn't. He not only knocked ol' girl up, but straight up WIFED her, which he probably wouldn't have even met her if he never even made the deal to marry someone else. I'. Not saying Rob deserved what he got because he certainly didn't, he kind brought that whole situation onto himself. It was Mama Stark my heart broke completely for. So yeah, I agrre with Addision that this one hit way harder and was wat worse because his desrh wasn't even his fault imo. He got killed as a result of SOMEONE'S dangerously dumbass choices. He was the Mama Stark if the situation, especially since he didn't even want to do the outpost mission in the first place either, and except the person who made the terrible choice is still alive. Glenn was just trying to be a husband and hopefully a father, and be there for his family and that's the only reason he even targeted him because of his reaction to seeing his pregnant wife almost getting murdered in front of him smh... The worst part? It just doesn't stop. From beginning to end, it's just tense and horror...

Also, to be fair, Daryl WAS the one who came up with the deal to take out The Savior, so in a sense, yeah, it all does trace back to him. It was all literally his idea lol. After Paul said the story about The Saviors showong up, killing a 16 year old kid and demanded half of their dtuff, Daryl called Negan a boogeyman, bs story about a man that no one's seen to scare people. He said they'd kill Negan for food, medicine, and a cow. Rick responded that they came all way to Hilltop for food and that they weren't leaving until they got it(at any means necessary, which was unspoken, but clearly what Rick meant), so he basically arrogantly co-signed it. Jesus presented the deal to Gregory, who wanted to make the deal specifically with Maggie. Poor Maggie. Thay woman is the MAIN one paying the cost of that deal(physically, mentally, and emotionally) the most, as she was the one who was trying to take accountability and responsibilty as not only as the one who did make the deal, whether she came up with it or not, but also as someone who has been stepping in their role in leadership and all that comes with it,(and she STILL was crying over Daryl being dragged away after everytjing), and still somehow found a way to muster up enough strength to stand up and go over to her husband brutalized body. And on top of ALL of that? She's currently carrying so much guilt about what just happened, about them being out there in the first trying to SAVE her, due to an injury that she already felt guilt about because she realized that despite making the deal, she realized that she really shouldn't have been out there, and got hurt and almost killed becauee of it...

Honestly, terms of show quality, I just wish we got replaced Gimple with Kang before it was too late(aka season 8 aka the weakest season imo). Kang made made miracles with whatever remaining damages Gimple left her with. Imagine what she could have done with it all still intact. I appreciate Gimple for some things on the show(I hated him after season 8 for years, still lowkey do, but I do have to admit that he still gave me one of my favorite ships of all time, Richonne, and had the mind to see the great potential and build that up since season 3 "Clear" before he even became the showrunner himself), but would have botched the hell out of my favorite villains from the comics, which is honestly the only real reason I came back after that first of season 9 almost a year later before season 10 started(I had life stuff going on at that point during season 9 and the show just wasn't worth trying to fit into my life at that point) because I had made up my mind to stop after season 8(and I RARELY, if ever, purposely quit shows)...

I know a lot of people stopped watching the TWD after what happened to Glenn because they felt it was "too much/brutal" on how he died. However, this show is based off of the Graphic Novel from 2003 that was created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore. In the graphic novel, Glenn died exactly the same way he did in the show. I agree the show played with our emotions & love for Glenn with the fake out death. Which I personal felt like by them doing that it lessened/cheapened his actual death on the show. I know a lot of people stated the show went downhill after Season 6 but I still loved it till the end. I hope you guys will stick with the show, you're more than half way thru it now. Thank you all & I really enjoy watching your reactions to this beloved series.

H-E double hockey sticks no! I am not a fan of Negan. He is a show boating bullying murdering butt fart son of a gun. This is the worst thing I've ever seen on TV. TWD is out of pocket for airing this episode. Abraham and Glenn's deaths were diabolical but Glenn's death cuts razor sharp and so deep. This was a disgustingly vicious act the way he killed Glenn. This was a horribly gruesome death and was undeserving of this day one character. I was gutted and could not continue this series after this episode. I've rewatched up to S1-S5 after this episode but not past it until EDN came along. When I tell you ya girl was crashing out for 4 episodes before this one and had to skip this episode in its entirety on my rewatch. I can't believe Ad made me smile in the middle of my bitter diatribe by putting on Rick's hat. But I digress ... I agree with Adison today was not the day for retaliation. Adison is absolutely right Negan would be raising Judy. She wouldn't even remember Rick and his sacrifice. She would be growing up in the midst of abject evil.

Agree with Addison. As much as Rick wanted to kill Negan, he couldn’t. Not yet. Driving away with Rick alone was definitely Negan breaking him down to submit, sadly. Its easy to say characters should be one way or another in situations we're never going to be in. Its fight or flight, not fight or contemplate. The others weren't realistically just being smart, I think they were more in shock. Negan was completely in control of Rick. He's exhausted after fighting off a horde and scrambling into this RV, with or without his loved ones held hostage he wasn't gonna do shit. He didn't "have a chance". As an aside: They made Negan a playable character in Tekken which is insane. Not even a martial artists, just a crazy asshole with a bat fighting classic fighting game characters.

Dwight is definitely up there as one of Negan's top guys because he's in the inner circle of the Savior leadership but Simon is Negan's right hand man and probably his most ruthless soldier.

Lord, Negan be lucky if I was still conscious after killing Glenn like that! 😭😭. It’s a hard pill to swallow for Rick. I slick blamed Daryl for Glenn’s death, but when I often think about it, Negan could have did what he wanted. He was in control and if he wanted to kill someone else he would’ve without Daryl’s intervention. Rick would die for his family, not risk their lives for revenge. If it was him alone, I see him killing Negan in that moment. I do feel your anger Osafa and Brandon, but Rick had to lean on that inner strength. Negan did bend, not break Rick in this episode tho. This was a lot for him. Rip to Glenn and Abraham. Series literally felt so depressing after my Glenn’s death.

I love this take. At the end of the day NO ONE is the villain in their own story. Negan and the saviors were just avenging their fallen brothers and sisters. Whether people want to believe it or not, Rick and Negan are two sides of the same coin.

He was the heart of the show and comic. People also quit reading the comic due to this death. Since they decided to leave so much plot behind I think they should have altered the line up too. I still stand by the stance that Robert Kirkman made some interesting and great characters but overall was not a good writer for this series. You know originally he pitched using Night of the Living Dead IP and just continue in that setting following the Grimes family and people he encounters. He's not the genius some people claim he is. And the horrific violence and R_ he inflicted on Black women and children in the comic...it was beyond shameful.

A lot of the guys under Negan are dangerous guys with bad pasts and they're not easy to control so it is part of the reason why Negan is so ruthless with how he unites and controls these guys. It is the only language some of them understand and keeps them in line

When this aired, a lot of people said, "It's how Glenn died in the books". Viewership dropped week over week after this premiere. Glenn was a fan favorite. There is so much that the writers/producers didn't do from the books. The show in season one had very little cussing and violence - it was gory. They were slowly ramping up to this episode all season 6. I hated Negan's reveal: the violence, the language.... And I watched all of Game of Thrones. Negan wasted all those resources blocking roads and trapping instead of knocking on the door & talking to Rick - like Jesus. I'll also repeat what I shared in the live - Rick has never enslaved a group of people and forced them to work for him & his group. Rick brings you into his family once he rocks with you. He's a flawed leader. The writers forgot what made the show great and popular.

You wanna know what's wild was how hard the really tried to hide that it was Glenn. First, they did the whole cliffhanger in the finale. Now people who are aware of things that happen in the comics, chances are, you knew Glenn was majorly on the chopping block because this is his infamous comic death as Negan's introduction and killing off a fan favorite in the 100th comic issue(most famous death in both the show and comics). So, when they filmed the whole Abraham getting Lucille'd, the filmed it with ALL of the characters in the lineup up(which they ended up using those clips for Rick's imagination scene, but we didn't know any of this at the time). Like the day before the premiere, a recoding of a clip of a character getting Lucille'd got "leaked". Guess who tf they leaked getting Lucille'd the DAY before it premiered? MAGGIE! These mfs were diabolical for that one of the characters getting lucillused ried to throw us off by killing off Abraham. But here the I lowkey feel like they also did that fakeout in season 6 to throw people off, too, because they jist "killed" him for like 4 epispdes, only to turn around and kill him forreal, after almost killing him a couple more times in between then. All.jusy to t grow us all off about those who knew abkut Glenn's comic death smh...

Finally, we have made it to this point. We have never seen our group like this, and it's a hard pill to swallow. When I first saw this, I was devastated and lost for words. To see Rick begging and crying was difficult to watch. People keep saying they took out Neagan's group first, BUT Neagan's group had been going around bullying people, so I don't feel sorry for them at all. I believe Daryl brought up the idea to take out Neagan's group initially, but Rick and the rest of them agreed to it. I feel as if Rick agreed because he wanted to support something that Daryl had suggested.

The Saviors sent the Bikers to confront the group. They killed them (about 10) The Saviors got attacked in their own compound (lost 40+} The Saviors sent Dwight lost more men, 6-8. They knew Alexandria wasn’t a push over so they pulled out all the stops. && Negan’s crew only killed 3 people in Rick’s group. && Rick’s group killed 50+ of Negan’s crew. He could have just killed them all. Have to look at how we’d view this if we been watching Negan’s group from season 1.

To be fair to Daryl, most of the group would’ve been at that lineup no matter what. Maggie was having pregnancy complications, so Glenn would 100% be there for her. Everyone who got in that RV with Rick had already made the choice to go for their own reasons that had nothing to do with Daryl’s absence, so the only real variables were Daryl, Rosita, and Michonne. And while Rick’s group attacked the compound, context matters. You don’t get to run around terrorizing communities, murdering people as examples, and extorting half their resources without expecting someone to strike back. Negan and his system were fundamentally wrong. So, in my opinion, anyone trying to stop him and free others from that kind of oppression will never be the wrong party. You can say Negan striking back is understandable from his viewpoint as a leader, and I agree. But overall, he isn’t the victim here, nor are his people who chose to follow a psychopath.

Not Abraham having two women crying over him like two grieving widows 😭. But him chucking up the duces to Sasha as a silent goodbye without a giving final look(he just immediately accepted his fate right after just finding within in himself to truly live and be happy, even wanting to start another family after losing his last wife and kids smh), but he didn't want to draw attention to Sasha as he said goodbye(I also think looking at her would ha e been to hard for him in the that moment ge knew he needed to be a soldier for the group til the end). Then Sasha's reaction when she looks down and sees it?! Poor Sasha can't catch a break 😭. I would have unintentionally blew up the whole spot and Negan would have immediately known that I was Abe's girl because the way I would have damatically fell all the way out in the lineup like I was an uncle trying to jump.in his mama's casket if I was Sasha seeing that 😆😭😭😭. Then you pretty much the opposite with Glenn and Maggie. He didn't even see it coming(no pun intended). And through his severe brain damage gives Maggie a direct goodbye, in a very Glenn, "Maggie, I'll find you".(in the comics he stutters until he finally just screams "MAGGIE!" because that's all he could what the love of his lives, the woman of his unborn child's name as he gets brutally killed right in front of her). It also represents the two different styles of their relationship sort to speak... Man, we just got our third power couple, and then HALF of Tier 2 & Tier 3 is gone just like that smh. Richonne is Tier 1. Sasham is Tier 2(I actually don't know if they even have a ship name, especially since the relationship was so short-lived 😭). Gleggie was Tier 3. (I guess Carl & Enid are the Junior League Power Couple: The Smoke Catcher & The Survivalist lol). We still got our Trauma Bonded Sisterhood Girl Power Duo(I need a shorter name for those two lol), and they gonna get through this together, for the third time, only this time it's Sasha guiding Maggie and taking the lead into being the guide like Maggie's done for her back at the after Hershel the prison fell before they went to found Bob on the tracks to go to Terminus to find Glenn & Tyrese, then at the barn the morning after the storm after they lost Beth/Tyrese, and then tge last time when Sasha was crashing out in the church and about to off a whole priest, all through her grief and pain. Also, I love that moment when Maggie finally stands up and steps away from Glenn's body, when she turns around, it's Carl that's right there to embrace her as she cries in his arms for a moment. It always reminds me of the fact that it was Maggie that was there with Carl when Lori died and Judith was born. We don't see them two together often(like when they were on the road to DC and Carl gave Maggie the music box he found to make her feel better), but that moment always chokes me up because that trauma gotta be a different type of bond, you know? RIP to the funniest man in the series(Abraham) and to the cinnamon roll of hope(Glenn)... Negan wasn't stupid. You can see and tell with the way he went about that whole line up that the whole eenie-meanie-miney-mo thing was clearly all just for show. The while point of him doing that in the finale was to basically just test and sre which person he needed get rid of based on how they reacted to him. Only three people didn't break in front him in the finale. As soon the he introduced Lucille, the first person he tested was Abraham, and the first thing Abraham did was look Negan dead in his eyes and rise up on him without like ,"If you honna do it, then do it, but I ain't ever begged for my life, and I'm not about to start now". Which pretty much sealed his fate in Negan's eyes, but he not only needed to make a whole tense show to further produce fear to the rest,but also make it seem like he did it at random. That man was ready to sacrifice himself. And Negan and probably already peeped him telling Negan's people to back off so they could help Maggie get to the ground and not them, and Simon allowed it. Only two other people in the lineup that looked Negan dead in his eye and didn't show fear to Negan in the finale: Carl & Michonne(she eventually broke when the former, who was pretty much on teenage, rage mode the past two episodes, still ready for all of the smoke, was getting caught in the crossfire, but other than that, Michonne stood pretty strong compared to everyone else). But Negan didn't seem to want to kill Carl, and he actually didn't speak to Michonne until this epside when she finally spoke up on, unbeknownst to Negan, her son's behalf(I mentioned in the finale comments what Negan said about Michonne in the comics during the lineup and what he seemed to subtly do towards Michonne in the show instead, but could you imagine if Negan found out Michonne was Rick's woman's and Carl's bff during the lineup?! Man, he would have had a FIELD DAY messing with that. Im fact, he prpbably would have took Michonne back with him like he did Daryl, especially wince she didn't seem to fear him either). Negan knew that he not only needed to BREAK this go-getter group, but that he needed to take out the person he knew he'd NEVER break. So yeah, Negan's not dumb. He knew who he was taking out practically right off rip... ETA: YES, ADDISON! To me, that's what makes that whole Glenn dumpster fakeout such a slap in the face. At the time that it aired and happened, I was upset, but I was willing to move on if that was his true death, we made memes, had theories and people trying to measure dumpster bottom s to see if someone Glenn's size could fit under it, etc. Then when he came back FOUR episodes later, we all collectively celebrated with joy even. THEN they almost killed him again right in front of Maggie two epispdes after THAT(Abraham & Sasha saved him 😭). This show has forreal played with Glenn's life more than ANY. They've been playing with Glenn's life since episode 2 of season 1 with him walking through the herd with Rick in the guts. The infamous well walker incident. Merle. Terminus. Man, there's been so many bat nods to Glenn throughout the series smh. The last one I think of off the, well, bat🙄, was when they were and Glenn was talking to Rick about saying that he would have shot Dawn dead, and I think he picked up a baseball st that had broken off a plague. I expected tge idea(I always said that if the show REALLY for years before this epispde aired that if the show really wanted to make fans lose it, they'd kill the fan favorite Daryl, and considering how much bs he was doing in season 6, I kinda wish they just did, ecen if they ended up losing like 90% of their audience). Yeah, the Glenn fakeout honestly leaves a bad taste from the retrospective aspect in come to the personal experience of it as a story. There were choices and that's what was decided to go with(lowkey the beginning of the end for Gimple when it comes to choices imo)...

People may come at me for this opinion but Rick's group is def at fault here for putting themselves in this situation. It's one thing when you defend yourself, hell SAVIORS would find them one day anyway and the altercation would be unavoidable. BUT what Rick's group did was to try and act all mighty "the world is ours" "we are no strangers to violence" etc. Rick got arrogant since Alexandria (reasonably though). S3-S5 rick would have NEVERRRR be so not cautious. He would have never gone out and kill people while they are asleep, folks who still don't know about you, just for food. Regardless, whether those folk were evil or not. It was a stupid desicion fueled by arrogance. Remember how Abraham said in the s5 finale that "rick knew every grain of that shit" and the reality is what Negan said "You don't know shit". The group acted careless for no reason other than overconfidence. they believed that they could take on ANYBODY and that made them weak. Anyone who thinks that way in apocalypse eventually gets hurt or dead. Rick's groupd put target on their backs by killing 30-40 people IN THEIR SLEEP WHO DID NOT EVEN KNOW ANYTHING ABOU THEM. At least if Saviours found them by themselves, Alexandria would have more opportunities and room to recover. No one would've dragged Rick like that and humiliated him in front of everybody. No one other than Negan himself would've been able to break the group like he did personally. And it would be good. Rick thought he was the only BIG DAWG. That mentality doesn't suit him. The reason he was able to survive so long is by realising that there is always danger lurking around. S5 Rick was like that, keeping his eyes and ears open

The actor for Rick Andrew Lincoln gets heavily into his character, emotion and headspace He has a wife and kids in real life behind-the-scenes it’s said that he would go off behind the set in between scenes and destroy shit because of the dark place that you would go as you remember from the prison, his acting looked real, not fake, and that is the case he would put himself in a mindset to where that actually happened to his family and where he would go for him. The scenario was all to real actors that do this to commit suicide or turn to drugs, they are actually going through the trauma mentally actor that played the joker in the dark Knight heath ledger, went the same way some actors just hit the breaking point

"This is the worst thing on television." Honestly, a lot of people agreed with you. This is when the ratings absolutely nosedived and a lot of fans bailed on the show. The cliffhanger combined with the brutal murders of two beloved characters was just too much for a LOT of people, because at this point it just felt like it was way, way, way too dark and hopeless for a big chunk of the audience.

To answer your question of why fake kill Glen under the dumpster the show runners were trying to mess with people that have read the comics. Glen was killed by Negan but not Abraham. They made changes to throw us off. Daryl doesn't exist in the comics either

Even during my first watch, I knew immediately and made peace with the fact that The Red Wedding was Robb Stark's fault and he had it coming, but Glenn did NOT deserve this at all! My bestie and I were 16 when we watched the premier. We were ugly crying and holding each other the whole time. It is the only episode of a t.v series that still brings me anxiety till this day to watch. This show is heavily nostalgic as I watched from day one, 11 years old, and watched every Sunday. So this was for sure the most demoralized and hopeless I have ever felt for t.v characters. Was it over kill? sure. But I think that was the whole point. The writers wanted the audience to feel helpless. We had built up confidence for 6 seasons that our group was the best, we can take on anyone or anything. This episode showed us that that's not true. The group should have not made the move on the compound without full knowledge. But unfortunate we became very confident and arrogant. We paid the price. (play stupid games, win stupid prizes as y'all would say) RIP Glenn and Abe :(

Something the characters from the main group do that irritates me is going after people when you know they’re making not-so-smart decisions. Glenn had that habit of going after people despite putting himself at risk and sometimes I feel like you just have to let people suffer the consequences of their own actions. Cough cough Daryl and Rosita. I get they wanted to avenge Denise, but that was a poor choice. Members of their group had already been in a hostage situation before with the “Saviors.” They let emotion lead them and it eventually your luck runs out.
