Daryl let Dwight and his wife go, and that created deaths and misery for his people. He felt that his loose ends were a potential risk that he couldn't afford not to deal with. Letting people go has drastic consequences in this world.

They were all loading up trying to leave and didn't know he was there. He could have stayed hidden and waited until they were gone, but instead he shot at them. Too big a risk.

It would be the same convo Rick is a loyal guy he would’ve asked morales what happened and how he ended up with Negan and he would’ve have assessed if Morales was truly down with Negan.

Plus look at Carl, yes chandler Riggs is a growing young adult but Carl is definitely way more than just 21 months older than he was when the show first started.

Just because one person deals with their trauma one way doesn’t mean others have to or should react the same way as those people who have more control. Trauma affects the brain differently in different individuals. I think the show does an amazing job at showcasing how everyone handles their trauma in a different way because it’s not so black and white.
