🚨 EARLY ACCESS ALERT! 🚨 Two Distant Strangers RAW REACTION
Added 2025-08-26 21:45:18 +0000 UTCWe sat down as a group to react to the Oscar-winning short film Two Distant Strangers. This film doesn’t shy away from tough themes. It sparked some real conversation amongst us as we unpacked what we watched.
While the story deals with heavy issues, we want to make sure this space stays respectful and positive. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments—I encourage dialogue, but let’s keep it rooted in understanding and constructive conversation.
Thank you for watching with us, and we hope this reaction brings awareness and perspective just as much as it brings entertainment.

I’m know I’m super late in this but I too have had a gun pulled out on me by a cop as a very small woman in the middle of nowhere Texas bc I had a nice car. Got rid of that car and got my new nice car searched coming home from work. Then a distant cousin is on the news (Philando Castille, also spelled Casteal). I want to have hope that systematically things will change but I honestly don’t know. I just put my faith in God and be the change I want to see in the world. That’s it that’s all. ❤️❤️

2025-08-31 17:17:53 +0000 UTCI never noticed the first time I watched this that his blood splatter was in the shape of Africa when the cop killed him in front of his apartment at the end. The cop was caught in the loop just like him — meaning the issue was systemic, not based on the individual. You can't throw out a "bad apple" and expect to fix an organization that's inherently racist [systemically]. To me I don't think about that as a "negative" thing per se — it's a PSA and a call for us to not just accept things as they are and not JUST try to make change on an individual or local basis but to take the real fight to the system itself.

2025-08-28 23:07:05 +0000 UTCThat was a super confronting film and ends with you facing real victims and no resolution to systemic racism. It’s a hard watch. I am on the other side of the planet and black Australians are 16 times more likely to die whilst in police custody than white Australians. This shared experience isn’t a coincidence. It speaks to historical in-balances of power that still exist. Really thought provoking, thanks for sharing🤍

2025-08-27 22:18:32 +0000 UTCI will say, to me this was so surface with no nuance..just felt like a short film to keep everybody angry (given when it was released).

2025-08-27 14:07:29 +0000 UTCNot too interested in the movie but im here for a female cohost. The differing opinions between Ad, Bran, and B3 got me really wondering what a woman would bring to the table on these reactions.

2025-08-27 13:40:25 +0000 UTCHey it's that movie that plagiarized "Groundhog Day For A Black Man". Sorry, I'm sure it's good I'm just very annoyed that the original got no coverage until this showed up.

2025-08-27 13:26:29 +0000 UTCGOD bless you brother for real Jesus Christ is GOD (YHWH, JEHOVAH JIREH) much love Romans 10:9 - That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 1 John 3:15 - Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

2025-08-27 02:54:30 +0000 UTCAs a white member of EDN nation, I didn't see this as a "hey we're not all like that!" and more as an indictment of the police in general. That no matter what some people--especially black people--do, there's nothing that's going to stop a corrupt cop with a vendetta. It all just feels so surface level though. Cops are over policing black and minority communities and killing black people in the streets, agreed...but like, what else is this trying to say? To just accept it and shrug your shoulders? Maybe the ending is trying to say, "we won't stop fighting because there's still work to do" or something? I don't know. The film itself was pretty good but I definitely agree that the ending felt a little too pessimistic and I would have preferred to see some sort of actual conclusion. Leaving it on that note just felt rushed and kind of muddled the whole thing for me. Like you think that there is progress being made and there will be some resolution and then that clapping bit at the end just took a step overboard like, "oh this guy knows what he's doing so he's just racist, evil and loves to murder for fun, I guess?" Weird message to send. Like y'all said, I don't really know who this movie is for. Obviously it's not saying anything new that black people don't already know and it's not giving a compelling reason for anyone else to really do something about the issue. An interesting watch for sure though. Appreciate y'all as always.

2025-08-27 02:21:46 +0000 UTCFilms like these definitely bring awareness but still triggering bc this cycle only told me that something as simple as just trying to walk home you can still be seen as a threat or “criminal” w police who are trained and honestly believe that crime is mutually exclusive to POC
