Project Horror: phase 2 - what the future holds

NB: Please read - it's a lengthy post but an important one. I'm going to talk about the direction of the project and how that will be supported by potential changes to tiers and benefits.

It's been just over three months since I launched Project Horror properly to the world. And it seems like a good time to review things, look at what's working and what isn't, and set out what the next 3 months might look like. 

Firstly, I want to thank all of you for your support. When I launched back in March, someone asked me how many patrons I thought I might have within a few months. I said I'd be happy with 20 - as I write this post, there are 104 of you!!!! 

Project Horror is a very personal project, in that I create the kind of content that I want to see, in the style I want to see it. It continues to overwhelm me that so many people are interested in what I do and want to support it. 

Your support, critique, and encouragement have pushed me on to be a much better story-teller and filmmaker than I was just three months ago. The content that I'm filming now (No Loose Ends, Deadly Ambition, The Handover, etc) is absolutely the best stuff I've produced. 

And judging from the overwhelmingly positive comments and messages, it's also the sort of content you patrons want to be seeing and want to be supporting. 

Honestly though, I think it's just a glimpse of what Project Horror could do.

In the next three months,  I'm going to be looking at creating a lot more videos in the style of No Loose Ends, Deadly Ambition, and The Handover etc.  I'm also going to look at creating shared worlds in which a bunch of stories happen and interconnect. And within that, we'll be serialising stories and having some recurring characters (the type that kill a lot of people and probably get wounded a fair amount too). 

To give you a for instance, I'm working on a series called Blood & Honour, where all the dirty cops in the city end up going to war with their former paymasters, the mob. 

And - just so we are clear - across all the next wave of content, the body count will be high and they'll be copious amounts of blood, guts, and gore as well as new and brutal methods of death.

I'm hopeful that in the coming weeks, I can get back to shooting with multiple people - and get back behind the camera where I belong 😂😂😂

Creating videos such as No Loose Ends, Deadly Ambition etc take much more time to plan, shoot, and edit than something like Blood Cult: Honey's Game - and I think that extra time is evident from what you can see on screen. Just to illustrate the difference, Honey's Game was zero prep, a three hour shoot, and probably about a two hour edit. Whereas, No Loose Ends was about 2-3 hours of prep, a four-hour shoot and about a 7 hour edit. So, roughly speaking, the new generation of content takes more than twice the time to pull together. 

I'm absolutely loving making the new, narrative driven gore videos and I really want to drive the project forward  and develop things even further. 

So our sights are firmly set on bigger, bloodier, better things. And as we push forward with what we do, it's important to ensure the tiers and benefits are right to support those ambitions.

With that in mind, I am proposing the following changes to the tiers and the release schedule. The emphasis there is on "proposing" because I want to consult with you and get your feedback, before implementing any changes from July 1.

RELEASES

I will release 4 main pieces on content every calendar month - so pretty much as it currently is with a new main release at the weekends. However, in terms of additional content, I plan to do more video and photo teasers every week as well as an archive video release every month. I also have a bunch of custom jobs that I need to share with you as well. 

So here are the proposed changes to the tiers ...

TIERS

$3 Splatter Fest

From July 1st, I plan to scrap this tier. I think there's maybe one person on this tier as I write this. I know a few of you joined on this tier and then immediately upgraded to the Gore Hound or Psycho Killer tiers BUT the amount of admin this tier causes is disproportionate - not because of individual members, but purely because of how Patreon works and how as an admin I set access rights for each tier. 

$7 Gore Hound

This tier offers ridiculous value - for just $7 a month you can stream everything we've posted. That won't change. You'll still be able to stream the main weekend releases, just as you do now. But some of the teasers and the monthly archive video release will only be available to higher tiers.

$15 Psycho Killer

Again, this tier offers crazy value - for $15 a month you get to stream everything AND download and keep all that month's weekend releases. That's less than $4 per download. And this tier will get all the teasers, and the monthly archive video release. 

The Catch-Up Tiers

No change here.
