The camerawork, including the framing, is wonderful, the blood effects are great, and Neave is, as ever, the most amazing special effect. The Ur death fetish company, W.A.V.E. films, took off in the 1990s when Tina Krause, an exotic beauty (German, Maltese, and Korean) with long dark hair and an outsized personality, gained a cult following and set records for violent demises. Neave seems a new, more spectacular incarnation of Tina, and Dan’s deft direction and filming take everything to another level.
