My New Year's Resolutions

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year, where ever you are in the world. 

I just wanted to share some thoughts with you, as it's been a while since I have. 

But first I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for your support. I say this all the time but it's true, without your patronage none of these films would get made. 

So 2023 was a challenging year for me. I think it was for a lot of people and it's certainly true in my case. I left a very toxic relationship and it was rough break-up and I've also lost some people i was very close to as well as dealing with ill-health of close family members. 

Now that's nothing out of the ordinary and there will be countless people who had worse times than I did. I'm not after sympathy. I'm only sharing that because I do feel that I was at times distracted from Grindhouse North and I know that - for some months - I was choosing the new releases based on how easy and quick they would be. Now, when you're a one-man operation and a single dad, picking the path of least resistance is a legitimate option. However, I'm very keen to get back on my mission and deliver the best 60s 70s tinged grindhouse giallo retro spy film death scenes!!!! It's a very small niche, but goddamn it it's mine!!!!!!

So with that in mind, I'm going to share some of my new year's resolutions with you. I would also love to hear from you any suggestions you may have for extra resolutions - just leave a comment below. 

• Finish sorting content into collections. As you know, Patreon introduced the new Collections feature back in October. It's a really cool feature but it does require me to add each individual post into the relevant collection - which is a big undertaking. I've done all of 2023's content - I just need to go and do 2020, 2021, and 2022.  
• Start chipping away at my editing pile. I have so many films that are just sat on my hard drives that I've not edited - some date back to 2020 even!!!!! 
• Update my welcome emails and "how to get the best from Patreon" post. It's been a while and they definitely need a refresh
• Get back to sharing my behind the scenes content, such as the Sofa Of Death interviews,  timelapses, Q&As etc. 
• Engage with you guys more - so more polls and more production updates etc.
• Figure out a better process for customs. I love shooting customs and we have an excellent track record of delivering. However, I have some big plans for my content this year and need some psace to bring those to fruition, so I will be limiting the number of customs I take on. I already say "no" to more than I say "yes" to, but I will be saying "no" to more. 
• More messed up, effed up gore :D I really love doing the asphyxia scenes and nearly half of you guys are here for that, but the project was built on the back of over-the-top gore and I want to get back to that for that part of the fandom. Just to be clear, I'll still be doing just as much asphyxia. It's more of a case of when I do gore, it's going to be bloody!!!
• Figure out how best to do big projects/series/long films. I really enjoyed doing Spyhunter Massacre and Queen For A Minute and I absolutely want to do more films like that this year - I just need to figure out how to do that, while keeping other fans happy. For example, I've got a six part slasher disembowelment series called the Humber City Ripper all shot and ready to edit. It's just editing all that together, while also doing the releases for the choke fans and shooting fans. 
• Write, film and edit an actual short film to send off to film festivals etc - it's just something I fancy doing. 
• Figure out what I'm doing with the spicier content. As some of you will know, I started experimenting with introducing spicier elements to my films, such as intimate contact, nudity etc. It's been a lot of fun to do and I was interested to see what impact it might have on numbers. Honestly, it's not had that much of an impact on the bottom line or to fan numbers. It's naturally more expensive to produce so I need to have a think about how I do that going forward.
• Update my socials more
• Revamp the website
• Get more consistent with my editing, so it's not all rushed at the end of the month :D

So that's kind of where my head is at coming into 2024. What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with some or all of the above. Have I missed anything? What should I add?
