He’s got daddy and mommy issues, and she was kinda too cowardly/willowy to stand up for herself, think like…. The very reasons he fell in love with her become the things he can’t stand because his parents/disapprove so he kinda squashed it until she’s not herself and surprise! She’s not what he wants anymore because he loved her true self but that’s ok! He’s gonna find out the hard way she don’t need him. Plus anemone’s sad wilted form she has before adventuring.
