Knight’s Virtue

Bevel’s methods are poorly thought. To be clear, it isnt a boning = bad, he’s just made some poor choices/gets distracted easily when it comes the ladies and believes to pursue knighthood he needs to be a bit more virtuous, chaste, and serious. Not completely true, but he could be a bit more proffessional. Carmine’s master work gets her the attention of the kink community and soon she’s making master work bdsm gear. Once he squires under Raff who is the pinnacle of knighthood in his mind (strong, polite, ‘never tempted by wonton desire’), bevel is set firm he wants to be like Raff. Unknown to him, Raff has been lusting over the party’s healer and just too repressed to do anything. I think that would be a bit more eye opening later on for bevel, because he believes Raff is the perfect example of a knight, almost kinda like do good-er completely in it for the reward of Justice. Raff is in it for the Justice obvi… but he has to remind bevel he also needs money. Eventually after some time Raff would perhaps admit to his own embarrassing wants to ease bevel’s heavy conscious which would both be difficult because 1. Raff became an adventurer after walking in on his fiancée sleeping with his friend when he returned from war and swore off love entirely (turned out he never really experienced real love cause the fiancée was toxic as fuck and he realizes she did both of them a favor) 2. Bevel accidentally wooed the wrong gentlelady and unknowingly found his way into the bed of a married woman, who’s husband walked in and that’s how bevel found she was indeed not a widow.

It’s be difficult for Raff to not be mad because he tends to be rather black and white about values, and his adventure would lead him to better navigating the grey. He’d prob see the shame and realize it’s one and the same, and feel a bit of kinship because Raff was only with his fiancée because she was affluent and beautiful and it was expected of him as a high profile son of a noble house, vs bevel wooed the affluent and beautiful as it was a way to feel worth something. Obvi they realize they are p problematic . But eventually Raff admits he is very guilty of what bevel thinks he’s free off, and admits he’s wanted the party’s healer since they met and how he thought she was a priestess and that taboo was even more tempting (though he would eventually learn she is not that kind of priestess). Bevel would prob be clutching his pearls cause that’s BAD.

Could they be foils? Hm? Sorta. Or at least master and student. I like to imagine Raff prob has to bite concrete to cope with his feelings because he’s so deeply infatuated with Birdie. Idk if bevel has ever been in love before, I doubt he would think he was. He prob wants to be, as he is very romantic
