They’re a bit mean 😂 but she means well, trying to pick out a bf for ur future husband is sorta nice… she’d prefer to have him herself, but is also playing the game, also worried Edwin’s ‘good hearted’ intentions will wear off and he’ll meet someone he actually wants to be with, the worry being he’d have a kid with that person while Portia is then cut out and looks worse for it. In reality Edwin’s just nice and prob has some sorta complex/feels he’d be taking advantage of the situation even if technically it is expected they’d have kids, he’s prob p determined to not ever share a bed with Portia since he feels scummy… obvi that changes later on when Portia is kinda pragmatic like well it’s kinda our job now :/ they put it off for some time, prob a year or some change before considering it. Though when it actually happens, it’s a moment of passion rather than anything clinical/duty bound and they begin to enjoy the full benefits of being married (and are very in love at this point) but prob do not wanna admit they have feelings hehe
