Detective Pikachu Movie Review

We went a saw Pokemon: Detective Pikachu today and I love it this is the best example on how to do a Video Game base movie and do it right. 

The World of Pokemon.

Right from the start you could tell that everyone that involve in the making of this movie are true Pokemon fans (or at least understood what the concept of Pokemon is) cause it is base within the world Pokemon it's not Pokemon going to our world or someone from our world going to they're world BS plot which is fine if done right but its one of most over use plot device in these kind of Video Game/Cartoon base films. Anyways the Pokemon world in the film is very well done fill with a ton of Pokemon to see almost every scene have a Pokemon doing something in the background from a Machamp directing traffic to a Jigglypuff singing in a coffee bar to signs and posters with references to the games and anime shows. It was great to see and try to find all the Pokemon in the movie.

The Plot 

The plot of the movie which is not bad but it is very similar to Who Framed Roger Rabbit or even Zootopia story plot (which I think it's more closer to Zootopia story plot) where you have to characters having to work together to try to solve the mystery of what going on and its a very simple mystery your probably will figure out who the real bad guy of the story early on but it a solid plot and you'll probably will enjoy where they take it in the film.

The Characters 

The lead characters which is Tim Goodman and of course Detective Pikachu I think they work great together and have great chemistry throughout the film while the secondary characters which is Lucy and her Psyduck which I think Lucy is the weaker character out of the two they try to make her the love interest to Tim and it didn't really work for me but over all she was okay. and the villain of the story while I understand his motivation on what he want to do but it was kind of out there.

Over all I very much enjoy the movie being a fan of Pokemon but if you're not a fan of Pokemon or not into Pokemon your probably won't get much enjoyment out of this movie as much as I did. that being said I still think this is the best video game base movie we got so far.
