Pretend Princess Pt1-7 (Mini Captions)

Pretend Princess Pt1
Recently, Princess Gwyna was taken by Rietterme, The Silver Witch. I had wanted to go after her, but she used magic on me to not only turn me into a girl but make everyone around me see me as Princess Gwyna.

I was going to go out into the world on a quest to find the princess, but the Princess of Bayerin, Princess Mirya, convinced me it was a bad idea to try and escape and go after her, and to her credit, she made a lot of sense.

Not only am I not used to the body I find myself in, at least when it comes to fighting, I have no clue where the princess is, and since everyone thinks I’m the princess, they’ll freak out if I go missing, and as much as I hate sitting around, keeping the peace in the kingdom is important.

So, now I’m currently being transported by carriage back to Zonait, where for the meantime I’ll be pretending to be the princess. I’m hoping that spending all my time with the princess will help me act like her and take care of her duties, but I still worry that this will be more than I can handle.

Pretend Princess Pt2
Once back in Zonait, I’m taken right to the castle and brought to a secure room. Thirty minutes later, King Gowther came bursting in through the door. I stood up to prepare to bow to him like I was so accustomed to.

However, he ran over and hugged me. As he held me and said he was so glad I was safe. I felt guilty because the king cared for his daughter, and right now she wasn’t safe, but at the same time, if he knew the truth, he’d tear apart the world to find her.

Right now we need the witch to think no one is looking for her; that way the scouts sent out by Princess Mirya can find her. Once that happens, I’ll save her, as is my duty. Until then, I will do what the kingdom needs of me.

Once the king, or I guess I should say father, at least for now. Once he left, I was told to rest up for the day and that he’d have food, drinks, and anything else I needed delivered to my room.

Pretend Princess Pt3
After a day of relaxing in the princess room, with guards around me checking in on me every ten minutes, I got to sleep in the princess bed, which was the softest thing I had ever slept in. At first I was uncomfortable because I wasn't used to it.

However, after an hour, I fell asleep and had the most well-rested night of my life, and for the first time since I was in my youth, I needed someone to wake me up in the morning. Cassia, the handmaiden and friend of Princess Gwyna, was the one to wake me up.

She told me that while yesterday was scary, as the princess, I still had duties to take care of, which I already knew about and knew I was going to have to do. So having woken me up, she began to get me ready for the day.

A quick bath later, and I was sitting in a chair, letting her go at my hair and makeup. I’d watched the princess get pampered like this so many times and never thought much about it, but sitting here being the one it’s being done to... sort of feels nice.

Pretend Princess Pt4
After hair and makeup, Cassia messed around with my hands. She used several tools, which I had no idea what they were called, but they seemed to be to clean my fingernails and to trim them down.

Cassia said the situation yesterday must have been really bad, as my nails were a mess. I let out an awkward laugh when she said they looked like the nails men had, since they never took care of them.

If she only knew. Once that was done, it was on to the last step. It was time for me to get into yet another princess dress. I wished I could wear something else, but Gwyna was only allowed to wear them, though she really does like them.

I mean, some of them aren't bad and not only look pretty but feel quite nice thanks to how soft they are. Plus, seeing how happy Gwyna got whenever she got a new one was nice, but still, that’s nice for her, not for me, someone who’s supposed to be a noble knight... and a man...

Pretend Princess Pt5
After getting into a dress, I was guided by Cassia and the small army of knights tasked with my safety to the dining hall. There I saw King Gowther talking with his son, Prince Ambrose, and the older brother to Gwyna.

He looked at me and smiled. He stopped talking with the king and walked over to me. Like before, he too hugged me and thanked the goddess above that I was safe. He then pulled me over to the table and had me sit down.

He had me tell him all about yesterday because he has taken up the mission of finding The Silver Witch and bringing her to justice. He also mentioned wanting to save me, not the princess, of course, but me, Sir Reyrus.

Apparently the report from the attack told him they didn't find me, which made him think I was the real target and that the witch has me alive. While that’s not entirely correct, it is good news to know they’re going to be looking for the witch.

Pretend Princess Pt6
After breakfast, Cassia pulled out a book and started telling me about the things I had to do today. I have an etiquette lesson today, as well as horseback riding. I have to attend the opening of a new hospital in town, and lastly, I have two tea parties with visiting nobles from other kingdoms.

The horseback riding was going to be easy, as I’ve been riding horses since my pa tossed me on one as a kid. As for the rest of it... I have had lessons on proper etiquette when I was training as a soldier and from the princess herself, so hopefully it pays off.

Then there’s the tea parties. I’ve seen those, and more often than not it’s all about gossiping and boys, which I’m not sure I can do; at least I don’t think I could possibly do it well. I mean, I don’t even like guys...

Pretend Princess Pt7
The first thing for today was horseback riding, which meant the day was only going to get harder and harder for me. I got changed and headed over to the stables, where my instructor was waiting for me.

I figured I might as well have fun with this before all the boring stuff comes along. My instructor came over with a horse for me to ride and was about to help me onto it, but without thinking, I jumped on myself with ease.

He seemed surprised, and I suddenly remembered the princess still couldn’t do it on her own. I pretend to be surprised and say how lucky I was for actually getting up. He agreed, but told me to be careful not to hurt myself.

I nodded, and while I was a bit annoyed because I have no problem handling myself, I know he thinks I’m the princess and is only looking out for her safety, which is what I would be doing if she were here.
