Seth started to wake up; around her she could hear people chanting, and she could sense a ton of mana flowing around her. She opened her eyes to find all the druids floating and chanting around the circle, with one mage in a dark robe standing and watching.

Seth tried to use her arms to stand up, but she was unable to do that as they were bound behind her. Seth looked up at the mage, then at the druids again. She had no idea who this mage was, but she recognized the symbol on their robe.

It was the same one from the book she had found, meaning this was a member of the Cult of Phlotous. She was right in assuming they were behind this, and if she didn’t do something quickly, something evil would appear and start killing people.

Seth tried to get her arms free, but the knots were too tight, and she couldn’t undo them. Luckily, she has a spell that she can use. She used a tiny bit of mana and focused her sparks spell through just her finger so she could aim it.

She used it to lightly singe the ropes until they came undone. Once she was done, she quickly stood up and jumped out of the circle. The mage noticed right away and summoned a dark-looking staff. He then began to aim it at Seth and shoot dark fireballs out of it.

Seth dodged them and shot sparks back at the mage once she was safe to do so. The mage themself didn’t bother dodging her magic and instead used a ward spell to block it, which meant Seth would have to do something else.

Seth continued to dodge and think of a plan. She had to hit the mage with something physical, but charging in with her axe will surely get her hit by those dark fireballs. Had it been normal fire, she’d take the risk and simply heal afterward.

She had no idea what the dark fireballs were, so she wasn’t going to risk it. So what could she do? She continued to think about it until one of her rolls made her coin purse jingle. That made her remember she made a purchase earlier that day.

Seth pulled her bow out and smiled. This was exactly what she needed. Seth grabbed an arrow and pressed it against the bowstring and then dodged the mage's next attack. Once she completed her roll, she quickly pulled back on the bow and shot an arrow at the mage.

It hit him right in the chest, on the opposite side of his heart, and suddenly the mage was on fire. The mage dropped his staff and started to scream, and Seth knew this was her chance to finish him off and stop his hostile takeover of the ritual.

She put her bow away and charged at the mage with her steel axe. She jumped up into the air and came down swinging; however, the fire had gone out, and even with burns all over and an arrow through the chest, the mage was still able to move.

They lifted their hands up and cast a summoning spell. A frost atronach came out of a portal and hit Seth before she could hit the mage. Seth flew higher into the air, and the frost atronach shot ice spikes up after her, hitting her again.

Seth let out a scream as she hit the ground. As she sat there trying to recover, she heard the frost atronach stomping towards her and knew she had to get up. She did so, even though it felt like her ribs were broken.

Seth dodged the swing from the frost atronach and pulled out a potion. She chugged it down in order to recover. She then pulled out her orcish warhammer and used it to block the next attack. Once it was stunned from her block, she swung the warhammer at its foot.

Its foot shattered, and it slumped onto the ground, but it didn’t stop attacking. It hit Seth again, sending her flying left. Seth rolled across the ground and slammed into a tree. She groaned as she opened her eyes and saw the frost atronach using its arms to pull itself towards her.

She also saw the mage limping towards the ancient circle. Seth slowly stood up again and looked at both of them. The frost atronach wasn’t worth fighting, as the mage could summon another if she killed it, so she had to take the mage out.

Seth pulled her bow out again and grabbed her arrows. She shot one towards the mage, but the frost atronach shot ice at it, sending it flying into one of the druids. Seth gulped as she watched the druid catch fire, then stop floating and land on the ground.

She then got really annoyed; she wasn’t going to be able to collect rewards from both the druids and merchants now that she had killed one. That really set her off, and she went wild firing arrows. She shot every last one she had.

The frost atronach managed to deflect six of them, four of which were sent flying into the ground and two more that hit another druid, killing them. The last two managed to hit their target, piercing the mage in the back as they stepped into the stone circle.

The mage once again caught fire and fell to the ground in the middle of the circle. Their blood quickly flowed out of them and spread across the stone circle. The frost atronach vanished, telling Seth that the mage was now dead.

All the druids still alive fell to the ground and seemed to regain control of themselves. They looked at the mage and then at their fellow druids and looked horrified. Seth told them to finish their ritual before it was too late, but they all started screaming and ran off.

That was when the body of the mage Seth had killed floated up into the air. It spun around like crazy before exploding into a black mist. Seth couldn’t see through it, but she could sense something inside, something evil.

Seth pulled out her axe and slowly approached the mist, and that's when something came flying out of it. Seth managed to move out of the way quickly enough to not be killed by it, but it still cut her cheek.

Seth looked behind her and saw that there was a spear pierced into a tree behind her, one that turned into mist as she watched. Seth turned her focus forward again and watched as something stepped out of the mist.

Seth had no idea what it was; it had horns on its head and spikes growing out of its body all over. It seemed to have hard plates like dragon scales that looked like armor on, and it had glowing yellow eyes.

Seth yelled at it and asked it what the hell it was, some sort of Daedra reject. The monster laughed at her and said the Daedra were only a cheap copy of the Drezdra and only existed as servants to them. It then seemed angry and said that those servants seemed to have forgotten their place.

The monster then laughed as it said the Daedra, along with the rest of the races here in this mortal plane, will come to fear the Drezdra as they’re resurrected. It then raised its hand into the air, and the dark mist began to flow towards it.

Another spear formed from that mist, and the monster grabbed it, then lowered it down, pointing it right at Seth. It then smiled as it said it was going to use Seth to warm up, and once it did, it would head into oblivion and conquer the Daedra.

Seth started to sweat a bit; she wasn’t sure she had the skills to fight this thing, never mind the equipment. It seems it might be best if she decided to run away and let someone else handle this thing.

Or she could try and fight, perhaps even try to use the staff that the mage had, the one that shot black fireballs. It was lying on the ground, and as far as Seth could tell, it seemed similar to the monster, so maybe it could kill it. She had to make a choice and fast, as this thing was about to attack her.

Comments

I'll be honest, I don't consider myself an expert on The Elder Scrolls lore, so I admit honestly that I have no idea what this Drezdra is. I'm sure there's some deep lore here, but alas, I don't know it, so please explain what it is?!
