Vycter was walking across the desert messing around with her new body. She was intrigued by the fact that she could just pop her arm off with ease. As embarrassing as being a woman was, she was kind of excited to try swapping her parts out with other things.
As she was walking, the ground under her started to shake a lot. It felt like an earthquake, and from the looks of the ground splitting around her, it sure looked like one as well. The cracks in the ground started to make a circle around her, and she knew she had to get out of there.
So she ran and jumped over the crack before it got any bigger. Once she was on the other side and safely away from the area being affected, she watched it to see what was happening. It turns out the earthquake was just the side effect of the real anomaly that was occurring.
The real anomaly was that section of the ground ripping out of the ground and floating up into the sky. Vycter was glad she got off of it, as it seemed to be heading all the way into space. Vycter was going to turn around and continue walking, but VYC73R told her to look at it closely.
Vycter looked back up and had no idea what her AI was talking about at first, but then she noticed it: on the very bottom of the floating island, there was some metal plating. Vycter then looked to the hole left behind, and sure enough, there was a small hole that led into Zeta-13.
Vycter thanked VYC73R for pointing it out, then she jumped into the hole and made her way inside the base. She wasn’t sure where she was at first; it was a small walking tunnel, and there were large arrows pointing in one direction, so she followed them.
That eventually led her to a massive hangar, but not one used for vehicles, but instead one that was more like an arsenal room. There were tons of different weapons hanging on the walls, shelves of ammunition, and the best thing, tons of space exosuits, mechs, and other random machines.
Some of the exo suits were huge, like twenty feet tall, and had cannon arms that could turn an asteroid to dust in an instant, while others just seemed to be for everyday uses. Vycter made her way around, looking for anything she could use.
She ripped quite a few parts off the machines, mechs, and suits she found lying around, but none of them were compatible with her body, some because they were too big, some too damaged, some because they were meant for male bodies, and lastly because she didn’t look human enough.
Vycter was disappointed, as she wanted to try something out, like a cannon arm or sword arm, but there was nothing she could do. She gave up and decided to head into the side rooms and see what she could find; as she did, she thought she heard a noise coming from something in the main room.
She turned and looked around. There were nothing but broken, beaten-down mechs and such; nothing seemed to be on, and there didn’t seem to be any people or other types of creatures here, so she had no idea what made that noise.
She shrugged it off and thought maybe it was just something she was messing with, falling over or something like that. She then opened the door to the first side room and peeked inside and was left quite disappointed.
Most of the rooms were dusty and filled with broken stuff, but as she was walking to another room, she saw it had a large glass window looking into it, and through the glass she could see tons of female battle robots with various transforming parts.
It was perfect; if she could get into that room, she could take those parts and actually use them. Vycter ran over to the door and pulled on it, but it was locked. She looked over to the side and saw it had a keypad.
She would have tried to hit random buttons to try and open it, but it seems an anomaly seemed to have made magnetic and fried the keypad out. The only reason she knew it was magnetic was because her finger became stuck to it when she touched it, and she struggled to get it off.
After that, she walked back over to the window and looked in. It was like she was being lured in with sweets, yet she couldn’t get to them. Perfectly good parts that she could use, yet she couldn’t take advantage of them.
Vycter leaned against the glass, looking quite sad and pouting about not getting the cool new parts, but at some point she had an uneasy feeling. She stood up and looked around. It was almost like something was watching her.
Vycter turned around without making a noise and looked around. At first, she didn’t see anything out of place, but as she continued to look, she noticed a small pair of lights coming from one of the shelves.
Vycter stared at it for a minute, which was a bad idea, as it let the thing know she knew it was there. It suddenly jumped out at her and grabbed her, rolling the two of them on the ground a couple of feet. Once they stopped rolling, Vycter realized it was one of the exosuits.
It had somehow activated and was operating without someone inside it; it was also quite angry at her. It started trying to punch her in the face, but she used her arms to block it, and luckily whatever her arms are made of was much tougher than the exosuit.
The arms to the exosuit broke to pieces, so it tried to hit her with its helmet. Vycter managed to get herself free before it slammed its helmet down, which caused it to smash its helmet against the metal ground, shattering it.
It stopped moving after that, and Vycter was glad. It was likely caused by an anomaly, but Vycter was not prepared for a real fight. Had it been one of the much bigger exosuits or mechs, once meant for fighting, she’d be done for.
Vycter took a deep breath and was about to put her hand on her head and rub her hair, but suddenly some sort of light flew by her. Vycter looked at where the light had landed and saw there was a hole to the room she was trying to get into.
Not only that, but the light also destroyed most of the stuff in the room, as well as putting a hole right through the other wall and several rooms behind it. Vycter gulped, then slowly turned her head to look at her arm, which was now gone, likely turned to dust along with the walls.
Vycter turned her head ever so slightly more to see where the blast of light came from, and behind her was a whole horde of activated exosuits and mechs all wanting to kill her. Vycter let out an awkward laugh and then started to run.
The horde started to blast away at her, and only a few minor blasts hit her back, but the next big blast from the mech with the light blast came shooting by, and Vycter jumped to the floor inside the room she had tried to get into.
She held her head and waited for the blast to stop. Once it did, she picked herself up and was about to run off but noticed that one of the arms of the female battle bots was in okay condition to use. So she grabbed it and started running.
She wasn’t really sure how this was going to work, but she decided to just press it against the spot where it should go. She was thrilled to see her body taking care of the rest and just working with the part she provided.
Seconds later she once again had a functional arm, but this time with some special abilities. It was a low-power light blaster arm with a grenade launcher that currently had three charges loaded. Vycter smiled; the blaster was great, but what she really needed was an explanation.
She continued to run, dodging what bullets she could, looking for a good spot to blow the room up to block her attackers from getting to her. Eventually she found herself inside what looked like an aquarium.
The walls were glass, and there was a ton of water on the other sides, and even better, there was nothing inside them—no plant life, no fish, nothing. So it was perfect. Vycter stood on one end of the room next to the door and unloaded her grenades.
One on each side at the glass to break it and fill the room with water, and one at the other door where her attackers would be coming in from, just to stall them long enough for the room to fill with water and trigger the emergency seal to the room, keeping the door she’d exit from closed.
She shot all three and then ran out of the room and hit the keypad to close the door. She then sat there, heart beating quickly, wondering if it worked. That’s when she heard the glass burst, water start pouring in, and the sounds of mechs hitting the wall.
Vycter laughed and cheered, then took a deep breath. That was beyond terrifying; she now just needed a moment. She sat down and leaned against a wall. She then started chatting to VYC73R about all of that while messing around with her arm.
