Melody was alone in her room working on her prom dress. As she did, she found her thoughts suddenly filled with the memories she’s made over the last year. All starting with that beach trip where she got turned into a girl.

She was still so awkward back then, but it was a lot of fun, so when she came back home, she agreed to try being a girl for a year. Since then, life has been so much more interesting and a bit crazy at times.

Becoming amazing at sewing and making costumes was super fun, but going to school in a girl's uniform was a bit awkward, at least at first; now she doesn’t even think about it. That date with Nadine was amazing, even when Alexander showed up and interrupted it.

The Halloween party was lots of fun; she really enjoyed making her friends the costumes, and it was a lot of fun being a real-life catgirl maid for Nadine. The Christmas ball was lots of fun, but it did leave her with a lot of mixed feelings and questions about her new self.

Luckily she told Nadine about them, and she was able to help Melody explore and work through the feelings, and in the end it made their relationship stronger. Not long after that was the night they went to that hotel and Melody got the princess treatment.

She’ll never forget that night; it was one of the best ones she’s had in her life, not just during her year as a girl. Then there was the time she hung out with Asuna, which ultimately led to her making things slightly normal when it came to Alexander.

The last memory to pop into her head was one of the most recent ones, during Easter, when Melody made a special costume to surprise Nadine. It was all so incredible, and she’s honestly gotten so used to being a girl, it felt like she had always been one.

Which was a bit crazy, as she would have never expected a year ago when she was still a guy that she’d suddenly be living as a girl and enjoying it so much. Melody turned off her sewing machine and sat back, looking up at the ceiling and smiling.

As she was looking up, the doorbell suddenly rang. Melody was going to get up to answer it, but her mother got to the door first and let whoever it was inside, which Melody should have expected was her friend.

Moments after the doorbell rang, someone knocked on her door. Melody told them it was unlocked, and in came her two best friends, Hope and Stefanie, and her wonderful girlfriend, Nadine. Melody greeted them all, and while surprised to see them, she was still happy they were here.

The group finds places to sit, and then they all start chatting like they always do, but then Stefanie clears her throat in a way to suggest she wants everyone's attention. She then bears a serious look on her face as she says there was something serious they needed to talk about.

Everyone looked at her, and Stefanie continued. She said, as everyone knew, after graduation the year would be over, and that meant the spell on Melody would be broken. The room suddenly felt heavy, and everyone looked surprised, but no one could bring themselves to speak.

Melody broke the silence and said she’d been thinking about that as well. Everyone suddenly looked at her. Melody looked a bit embarrassed as she talked about how wonderful the last year had been, and she was sure she’d miss it if she decided to change back.

However, she was still unsure and was wondering if there was any way to get a bit more time to think about it. Stefanie closed her eyes and thought about it for a minute and said she could perhaps extend it a bit, but not by much.

Melody thanked her and said any extra time would be helpful. Stefanie nods and tells Melody that she'll change the spell a bit so that a kiss on prom night will decide her fate. Everyone had no idea what that really meant, but Nadine asked for further clarification.

Stefanie explained that if Melody kissed Nadine before midnight, they’ll both remain girls, but if Melody kissed Nadine after the minute, she’ll go back to being Christian, and the changes to the world would go back to the way they were before the spell, and Melody would be no more.

The room once again felt heavy, and it was uncomfortably silent. Stefanie broke the silence and told them not to worry; either way, they’ll still be the cutest couple she’s ever met, and they’d all remain friends, like.

Melody smiled and thanked her for saying so, but she knew she still had a lot to think about before such a big decision. The group moves on from that topic and goes back to chatting and having fun like they normally do.

They even got Melody to model some of her newest costume creations. Later that night, long after Hope and Stefanie left, Melody and Nadine were lying on her bed looking up at the ceiling. They were holding hands, but neither was thinking, as they were both lost in thought.

Melody pulls Nadine closer to her and breaks the silence with a shaky voice. Melody asked her what she should do. Nadine looks away for a moment and then looks back at Melody. She admits she wants to keep Melody.

However, she loved the person Melody was more than anything. So it was really a question she had to ask herself and decide for herself. Nadine then held Melody tightly and told her no matter what, she’ll always be there for her.

Melody blushes and lets out a smile. Slightly less worried and worked up, Melody was finally able to fall asleep in Nadine’s arms. Some time passed after that, and the big night was finally upon them. It was prom night.

Nadine came to pick up Melody, and the two drove off to the prom happy and excited, though both of them had the big decision floating around in their minds, and each of them was wondering what Melody would pick.

They arrive and meet up with many of their friends, Stefanie, Hope, and Asuna included. After chatting, they get some punch and snacks before going off and dancing. It was a blast, but despite how fun it was, Melody was still so unsure about everything.

Luckily that didn’t stop her from having fun entirely, and before the two of them knew it, hours had passed, and it was almost time. Nadine held Melody’s hand and told her it was almost time. Melody took a deep breath and nodded.

She then lets Nadine pull her out onto one of the balconies, where they’d have a bit of privacy for what was to come. Melody’s heart was racing like crazy, and she was so unsure as her head was betraying her and filling her with anxiety and reasons why she should and shouldn’t do it.

The two stared out over the city for a few moments, taking in the beauty of everything, and Melody thought Nadine was waiting to hear her answer, but it turned out Nadine had something else planned.

Nadine turned her head and smiled at Melody, then she bent down on one knee and pulled out a small velvet-covered box. She then looked up at Melody with a big smile and opened the box to reveal an engagement ring.

Not just any ring, though—the one Melody’s father had once used to propose to her mother. Melody’s face suddenly looked shocked and turned bright red as she blushed. Nadine then put the ring closer to Melody and started speaking.

She told Melody that no matter what she decided in a few moments, she would love her, the real her, and that would never change. Then, with the ring extended, she asked Melody if she’d do the honor of marrying her.

Melody put her hands over her mouth, and tears started to flow down her face. Nadine continued to kneel there, waiting for an answer. Melody removed her hands and yelled yes as she jumped into Nadine’s arms.

The two fell on the floor of the balcony, with Nadine holding Melody on top of her, and before Nadine could say anything about the accepted proposal, Melody leaned in close and pressed her lips against hers and gave her the most passionate kiss of their lives.

Nadine’s eyes got wide as she realized what that meant. There were still a few minutes until midnight, which means that Melody made her choice. She decided to live life as a girl, and she chose to spend that life with her.

Nadine’s eyes filled with tears, and she was unbelievably happy. She closed her eyes and let the tears flow out the sides of her eyes as she sat there enjoying the kiss from her fiancé and love of her life, all while two people spied out the window and celebrated.
