D&D Adventures: The Thief I (Ea)

(A remake of one of my original series, Becoming my DnD Character. I only ever did one part of the story and never got to make the second part, and it's been so long, so I'm remaking the originals and then will make the ending this story deserved. So enjoy the new expanded version of the world and characters.

The story starts here:

“Finally! After a long and completely miserable week, it’s finally Saturday night!” Ian said as he stretched his arms out and made his way to Danny’s house. “Saturday nights are always special, and I can’t help but think about them all week.”

Ian put his hand behind his head and looked up as he walked. “I truly love getting to hang out with my friends and play D&D. I wonder what Dungeon Master Danny has come up with for us tonight? Knowing he loves the game as much as me, I know it’ll be great.”

Ian thought about his other friends, Jake and Kyle. “I wonder if Kyle will start enjoying the game a little more. He always seems uninterested, unless of course he gets to be a brute and break everything, which can be quite a pain.” Ian thought to himself.

Then Jake came into his mind, which sent shivers down his spine. “As for Jake, he’s one of my best friends, but his obsession with playing overly sexual female characters is quite strange but has gotten us out of trouble in the game quite a few times.” Ian thought as he shrugged.

“I, on the other hand, like to change things up each time we start a new campaign. Like today, I’m playing not only a new race but also a class that I’ve never done before. I’ll be a sneaky raccoon thief, who’s also an adorable girl.” Ian thought as he smiled to himself.

“She’s only about three feet tall, has long black hair, the most adorable little ears, and eyes that glow a bit even in the daytime. She’s just so adorable, and I’m really hoping I can use that to make people think I’d never steal from them.” Ian thought as he laughed.

Ian makes it to Danny’s house and is let in. He then heads down to the basement, which Danny had set up as a massive game room, which has a super cool table for them to set up and play on. Ian and Danny set everything up, but at one point Danny vanished.

When he came back, he had a very strange-looking box. “What’s that?” Ian asked. Danny smiled and placed it on the table. “It’s a new thing for D&D; I got it at a local game shop. It’s supposed to make the game more immersive and essentially run the game so that even I can play.”

Ian was beyond impressed, while Jake was mildly interested, and Kyle looked unamused. “Well, might as well see if it works; if it does, I’ll make a character real quick; if not, we’ll play as we normally would.” Danny said as he looked around.

“Sounds great. I hope it works. I’d love to be playing side by side with you for once.” Ian said excitedly. “I’ll admit, I want to know what this more immersive feature is like.” Jake said, sounding a bit suspicious. “Eh, doesn’t make a difference to me.” Kyle said without looking up.

“Alright, here goes nothing.” Danny said as he pressed the button. The box started to shake a bit, and some pretty awful noises came from it, then it started to glow and float into the air. “Uh… is it supposed to do that?” Ian asked.

“Maybe? I… I don’t know…” Danny said with a nervous tone. The sounds and flashing got Kyle to look up and watch what was going on. “Maybe we should turn it off.” Danny said as he reached for the box, but before he reached it, he passed out onto the table.

“Danny? Are you… okay?” Ian said before suddenly passing out himself. Ian was asleep for quite some time, but then she heard a voice. “Cleo, it’s time to wake up and prepare for your quest.” The voice spoke seemingly directly into her mind.

Ian slowly opened her eyes and found she was sitting in the woods, leaning against a tree. She yawned and then felt a bit confused. “Cleo? That’s the name of the raccoon character I made for DnD… Was I dreaming about it? Also, why am I sleeping against a tree?”

Ian stood up and stretched, and immediately she noticed there were a few things off about her body. She was about to inspect her body to find out what was wrong, but that voice started speaking again, and she jumped backward due to it, hitting her back and tail against the bark of the tree.

“Cleo the thief, the campaign has begun. Your current quest is to break into Governor Alista Blorndyne’s mansion and steal her most valued treasure from her basement vault.” The voice said before going completely silent.

Ian moved away from the tree and started rubbing her tail, which had gotten hurt. “That was strange? What’s going on? Why am I hearing voices, and what does it mean by current quest? It’s almost like I’ve woken up in some sort of game…”

Ian went silent after saying that, and the realization that she’s been rubbing her tail, which was something she’d never had before, paired with the fact the voice was calling her Cleo. Ian let go of her tail, and she looked down at herself.

She found herself wearing an orange and white strapped dress, with a long-sleeved black shirt underneath it. On her hips she had two pouches, both of which felt heavy, so she knew they were full of stuff.

Then, lastly, below that, she was wearing thigh-high boots. “No… no way… I’m dressed exactly like how I pictured my character…” Ian said nervously as she turned her gaze towards her chest. “So… I… somehow got turned into my character…. Which means… I’m a gi.gi..girl…”

Ian just couldn’t wrap her head around it. “I must be losing it.” She thought, but it all felt real; she didn’t feel like she was hallucinating or sleeping. Ian looked away from her and noticed a pond nearby. “That looks pretty clear… Maybe I can use it to look at myself…”

She thought as she walked towards it. Once she was at it, she leaned over it and looked at herself, and it was undeniable. She was now an adorable female raccoon, and somehow all of this was real. “How is this possible?” She whispered.

The memory of Danny’s strange box flashed through her mind. “The box… Did it really do this to me? Did it do this to the others? If so, maybe I can find them, and we can figure out how to get back home together.” Ian was a bit hopeful but then got bummed out.

“Of course, that would be easier if I knew their characters… Perhaps, I might find them by doing my quest.” Ian thought about her quest. She had to steal from the governor. She looked around the area, and outside the woods she was in was a massive magical city.

“Yikes… this place is nuts… It’s going to take some work to find the governor’s mansion.” Ian says as she shakes her head. She then looks down at herself again, this time towards the bags she had. “I suppose I should double-check my inventory real quick.”

Ian opened her bags. “Let’s see, about fifty copper, a thieves' kit for picking anything that is locked, some food rations, some sort of black bodysuit, a pair of black gloves, and a map of the city… A map of the city!” Ian pulled that out and opened it.

“This is perfect!!! The governor’s mansion is marked on this.” Ian looked around for the woods she was in, and it wasn’t all that far from the governor’s mansion. “This just saved me from wandering randomly in the streets of this city.” Ian smiled as she rolled up the map and put it back.

“Alright, so that’s it for the pouches, but I can feel that something has slipped in between my clothes.” Ian reaches behind her and moves part of her dress and grabs two things with handles. She then pulls them out to reveal two small iron daggers.

“Oh, that makes sense. I do need weapons to defend myself.” Ian put them back and then smiled. “I suppose I have everything I need to get this campaign started. Alright, Cleo, it’s time to get started; off to the governor’s mansion I go!!!”

Cleo left the woods and started her walk towards the governor's mansion but stopped every once in a while because something in this fantasy city was just too amazing not to look at. Things like a magical snow cone stand. The stand was worked by a mage and alchemist.

The wizard would start the process by using a spell to make a glob of water appear in the air, then he’d use a freezing spell to turn the water into chunks, then finally he’d use a powerful wind spell to break up the ice into little pieces perfect for a snowcone.

After that she handed it off to her partner, who would then ask the customer what flavor they wanted; then, using a combination of things like berries, herbs, minerals, and other things, he created the flavor they requested and then poured it over the ice.

Cleo was so amazed by it, she ended up spending thirty copper to buy one, which she ate as she continued on her way to the governor's mansion. Once she made it, she climbed a tree and started scoping out the place while waiting for nighttime.

What I did of the original story was part one of three that I had wanted to do, but I never got to it because I started the original What Do You Wish For series. Then I just never found motivation for it. Now there are several of my old stories that I want to do a full reboot on and actually complete. This is one. I still have a three-part plan for the story, the first part being the introduction of each character.

Oh, and I already thought that you decided to never return to this story since you haven't talked about it for a long time, but suddenly you decided not just to continue this story or update it, you essentially decided to rewrite it and I'm very interested in what you'll end up with. I also really want to see the true ending of this story since as far as I understand, what we have now is not the ending, but at best the middle... Well, such dark endings are not your style at all, so I think that you haven't finished this story and I'm very interested in what the real ending will be!
