After Lia accidentally used her magic and transformed Christian not only into a woman but also into an Atherpaws, Christian started going by Melody and decided to spend the weekend acting as the big sister Lia always wanted.

It was a bit awkward, but Melody wasn’t mad about being transformed and knew Lia didn’t mean it. So they might as well try and make the best of the situation while they wait for Stefanie to come back home and turn Melody back into Christian.

During the weekend Lia and Melody did all kinds of things, like playing with toys, watching movies, playing in the backyard, and lots of dress-up, all of which had their difficulties for Melody, since she really wasn’t used to being female yet.

However, she still didn’t let it get to her, and she continued to make sure Lia had a good time. When Monday morning came around, Melody and Lia were up nice and early and eating breakfast as they waited for Stefanie to come home.

The door opened and Lia jumped out of her chair and ran towards it. Melody chuckled and got up as well. Lia ran and jumped into her mother's arms and hugged her tightly. “I missed you, darling! I missed you so much.” Stefanie said.

“I missed you too mom…” Lia said, sounding happy but then suddenly getting worried. Stefanie noticed that right away and put Lia down. “Why are you worried? What happened?” Stefanie asked, sounding worried.

“Where’s Christian?” She was sad as she walked towards the kitchen in a rush. She and Melody nearly ended up bumping into each other as they both tried to turn the corner into the next room. Both stopped and Stefanie looked shocked as she stared at Melody.

“Hi Miss Stefanie… uh… this is a bit awkward…” Melody said, red-faced. Stefanie sighed and looked at Lia. “Care to explain why your babysitter is not only female but somehow an Aetherpaw? What did I tell you, young lady? You were supposed to keep your magic under control!”

Lia looked down at the floor ashamed and tears started to well up in her eyes. Melody suddenly felt really bad. “Wait… It’s not exactly Lia’s fault… I think I might actually be to blame.” Stefanie stops her scolding and looks at Melody.

“You did this to yourself?” She said sarcastically. Melody lets out an awkward laugh. “Uh, well, I mean, Lia was telling me about wanting a sister, and I didn’t want her to be upset, so I told her if she believed hard enough anything could come true.”

Stefanie seemed surprised by this, then looked down at Lia again. She was silent for a minute but then let out a sigh. “I suppose I can’t blame her too much; she’s young and her powers are clearly much stronger than mine when I was her age… I can’t imagine how hard it is to control.”

Stefanie put her hand on Lia’s head. “It’s okay, mistakes happen, and we’ll fix this. Just promise me you’ll be careful with believing in things to come true, as that may have unintended consequences, like turning poor Christian into a girl.”

Lia smiled and wiped away her tears. “I promise, I’ll be careful.” Stefaine removed her hand and then looked up at Melody. “Now for you… Obviously we can’t leave things as they are. So you have two choices.”

“The first, I can turn you back to normal and then alter your memories so you don’t remember being turned into a woman and so that you don’t remember we’re Aetherpaws, so our secret is safe. The second, I can alter the past so that way we’ve always been a family, and you can stay as you are.”

Stefanie said before going silent and waiting for Melody to pick. “I… uh…” Melody mumbled. She would have thought this would be an easy choice, but for some reason she didn’t want to forget about them or being Lia’s big sister for the weekend, as it was nice.

Melody found herself conflicted, but then she looked over at Lia, who was holding her hands together. It was clear she was hoping Melody would choose to stay as her big sister while also doing her best to control her magic in order not to accidentally make the decision for Melody.

Melody thought about her family, and sure, she’d miss them, but she had four siblings, all of whom would still have each other if she wasn’t around. Lia, on the other hand, had no siblings, and Melody had a feeling making new Aetherpaws was hard, which was why Stefanie was so surprised.

So the chances of Lia ever getting a sister could be close to zero. Melody smiled and let out an awkward laugh. “I can’t believe I’m saying this… but this weekend was really nice… I guess I wouldn’t mind staying like this.”

Lia’s face lit up and she threw her arms into the air. “YAY!!!” she yelled as she ran up to Melody and hugged her. “If that’s what you want, let me welcome you to the family. Now I just need to work my magic and set it in place.” Stefanie said as she raised her hand.

“Wait!” Melody said quickly. “Alright? Why, change your mind?” Stefanie said, sounding a bit disappointed. Melody shook her head no. “This is a bit awkward, but it’s about my body… I don’t think I can just adjust to being like this… but maybe if I were to grow into it, I could.”

Melody let out an awkward laugh. “Since I have no experience as a girl, could you also make me younger? So that I can learn?” Stefanie smiled. “Of course, actually that’ll work out better for me; after all, imagine how old people would think I am if I had an adult daughter already.”

Melody let out a laugh and watched as Stefanie raised her hand and started her spell. Once she casts it, all three of them see a wave of energy come out of Stefanie's hands and then move across the room before leaving the house and crossing the entire world.

With the spell done, Melody looked down at herself. “Wow… I’m so small now… and look at my dress… it’s cute…” “Yeah, you are, but I’m super glad to be the mother of such an adorable little kitten.” Stefanie said as she played with Melody’s ears.

Melody got a bit embarrassed but was smiling. “That’s embarrassing, Miss Stefanie.” Stefanie pouted. “Hey, it’s mom now.” Melody chuckled. “Oh right… I’m sorry mom.” Melody then noticed Lia was standing there looking at her but not saying anything.

“Is everything okay, Lia?” Lia just tilted her head. “You look just like me now, just purple… I thought you were supposed to be my older sister, but you look the same age as me.” Melody looked down at herself again. “Yeah, I suppose you’re right.”

“You guys are twins now, but don’t worry, Lia, Melody is the older one, so she can keep being your big sister.” Stefanie said as she looked around her house, which had changed to match the fact she now had two children.

“Oh really? That’s awesome! Thanks so much mom! This is the best!” Lia said as she grabbed Melody’s hands and cheered. “Now why don’t you two go play for a bit? I’ll come get you later and we can work on controlling your magic, and Melody, I can help catch you up on being a girl.”

Stefanie said as she walked towards the stairs. “If you two need me before then, I’ll be in my room resting, as it turns out changing reality so that you’ve had two kids comes with a bit of a toll on your body.” Lia raised an eyebrow. “What does that mean?” Melody got a bit embarrassed.

“Oh, uh… Well, it just means that she’s extra tired from caring for both of us, so we should work extra hard to be good.” Lia nodded. “That makes sense.” Lia then looked at Melody again and smiled.

“I’m glad you wanted to stay as my sister… Now how about we go check out our room? I’m sure it changed with reality and I’m excited to see what it looks like, as well as all the new clothes that appeared for you.”

“Sure, I’m also excited as well. This would be the first time I had a girly room and girly clothes. So I wonder what the new me wears.” Melody said as she led Lia up the stairs and to their bedroom, which they found now had two beds and was a bit of a mess.

The two got to work cleaning it up thanks to Melody suggesting they do so, after which they played dress-up using all the clothes in their closet. It started as a simple babysitting job, but now Melody was a girl with an amazing little sister, and together they’ll support each other no matter what life has in store for them.
