Breaking Down Flight of Fancy | Sly 3

As usual, if you'd asked me how long I thought this video would be, I would have been way off, but this time I would have been off by like 40 minutes. It's fitting in its way, that my favorite level would run away from me like this and wind up as my first feature length episode. I do think it ended up being one of my favorite breakdowns as well, can't believe sly 3 is already halfway finished...

By the way, her name is 2CPhoebe

That pornhub jingle is so funny

Subbed to your patreon because I NEEDED to get these episodes early. The fact I played these games my entire childhood and never knew you could reverse-pickpocket bombs or push buttons with sleep darts is exactly why I keep looking forward to this series. Keep up the amazing work!

I think Genghis Khan was a rabbit for... obvious reasons

When I was a kid, I broke my Sly 2 disc on accident. So I would constantly replay Sly 3. I believe that Sly 3 has the best three episodes in a row. Flight of Fancy, Cold Alliance, and Deadman Tell no Tales are such masterpieces in world design, new mechanics, and genuine fun! Always been a tough decision picking between Sly 2 and 3. But I can’t help but appreciate Sly 3’s scale. Plane Dogfights, Ninja Spire fights, Dragons, Naval combat, Krakens, and more. All these episodes have so much character and charm. They truly feel like a heist movie where the stakes get higher and higher. I was so excited to see rumble down under get posted yesterday. That I had to make a Patreon account to experience these next 3 episodes ASAP. Much love 2CPhoenix for making these videos so I can spend time through my day remembering how fun sly is, even though I don’t have the time to play. My baby T. Rex’s are taking up all my time.

I always resubscribe to this patreon for these videos. Sly is so near and dear to me. This video was amazing as per usual. Now the waiting begins! :D

Omg I never caught that either!

It took me, until this point in time to realise, that Penelopes final chat room line was a pun. The competition is called the A.C.E.S, as in an ace you find in a deck of cards, and when she says "then maybe I'll know yer not just a pack of jokers" that's a double reference, since a deck cards can also be called a pack of cards, and the joker is useless in games like poker, so she was saying it'll prove that the Cooper Gang isn't a bunch of useless people. It's a bit of a shallow double entendre that didn't need to be unpacked at all to get its meaning, calling someone a joker is already an insult depending on context, but I love that she basically said you ain't shid in two ways through one line of dialogue and it went over my head completely for years until now lol.

Soul Cyclone

Flight of fancy was such a fun chapter when I played it when I was younger though I did struggle with the flying sections haha

The Elder Crow

That bongo cat gag was adorable, love it

That “they’re not there” line makes a lot of sense but I’ve been hearing it as “mother?” For so longggg

Fierce

In real life they also had guns in front of the biplane or monoplane propellers, they were synced up in a way so the propellers would stop briefly to allow shots to pass through - quite interesting

Alexander Anqvist

If you'd like to double check that, I found an article by the Doughboy Foundation, and the mechanism that makes it possible, the synchronization gear has a wikipedia article

The Queen Of Time

Despite how it looks, the Black Baron's plane having the gun mounted behind the propeller blades isn't actually all that unrealistic. In world War 1 it wasn't uncommon for planes to have their guns in that position, specially rigged to ensure the bullets would fire between the blades instead of hitting them.

The Queen Of Time

Glad to get to this video, this is easily my favourite episode of the series <3 which is funny because, as a kid, I hated it because of how hard the missions were for me when I was younger. I swear, it felt like I got stuck and raged at every mission in this episode as a kid; now I can fly thru them (no pun intended lol) Also, subtitle error at 25:18, the guy's saying "They're... not there..." in reference to the room keys he's looking for. Gonna sound weird, but that line has stuck with me since I first heard it, and I say it whenever I lose track of something. The delivery is so good xD (as is the delivery of most lines in this game, I think this game has the best voice acting in the series, not just with the main cast but with every character)

Bunchawords

Awesome video like always man. Did you ever notice that the slides in Bently's briefings use the same little jingle that the mission complete uses when they change from slide to slide?

Jyk

Penelope is a cool character. I sure do hope they don't habe her be a casualty of mass character assassination in the sequel

DaitylAxe

Penelope is such a great addition to the Cooper Gang. I'm so glad an ill-advised sequel game by a completely different development team never got the chance to butcher her characterization.

Funny Profile Man

Phoenix, you wouldn’t happen to be a Hitman fan, would you? You mentioned your love for hotels, and my mind immediately went to Bangkok from Hitman 2016, followed by realizing that I would kill to see someone with your eye for detail pick apart the recurring background characters and smaller details in some of those World of Assassination levels. It totally wouldn’t fit the vibe of the other games you’ve broken down, though. I’m just happy to watch your videos on Sly and Kingdom Hearts. Lot of fun details in these games, and they’re so nostalgic for me. Thanks for another stellar video. 🌟
