If they’re poor, buy them useful stuff: Gift cards to Walmart, socks, jackets etc. If they’re well off, buy the something frivolous but fun stuff. Video games they wanted. If you don’t know them well enough to know what they want/need, don’t buy them a gift. It’s evident that they’re not close enough to bother with.
