The Official [POSTSHOW] Episode 58.5: Paddington is too Cute

Howdy postshow watchers,

What're your thoughts on Paddington? Is he just too cute? Also, we might be swapping how rewards work on patreon soon. We're thinking about doing hour long additional episodes on patreon two times a month for $5 patrons, instead of doing 20 minute long postshows 4 times a month for $1 viewers.

The reason being that, at least currently, the postshows haven't felt all too interesting or entertaining and we feel that increasing the length to a full episode would be more effective. We would replace the $1 tier reward with something with equal value. Currently, we've been thinking about taking questions for podcast episodes during recordings and having that ability exclusive to all patrons. We'd simply give you the "patron" role on the Official Discord, and then you're able to join a private channel there during a recording and ask questions that might be asked during the show. It's a little bit of interactivity for both the show and the patrons.

Let us know what your thoughts are!

The Official [POSTSHOW] Episode 58.5: Paddington is too Cute

Loved this one. Also Charlie paddington is too adorable !!

I’ve been going back to listen to all of the post shows, regular episodes, and bonus episodes while I work. But Kaya just pissed me off so much when he said he doesn’t like Shrek 22 minutes in. What a terrible thing to say. Shrek is fucking great. Especially the second one.

I personally love the postshows exactly because they are 20-30 minutes long as I can listen to them without having to commit an hour. I also don't agree that they are uninteresting, but I might be bias as I love everything you guys make. But my biggest concern is that I wouldn't be able to upgrade to the 5 dollar tier since asking for 1 dollar a month for my parents is much easier.

IMO, I do not share your sentiments of the post shows being uninteresting, bad, or not entertaining as they stand. I feel the current setup is one of the best deals on Patreon. There's a reason you have over 1000 people at the $1 level. And if you feel the post shows in their current format are bad, that's only 20-30 minutes of a "bad show". If you have a "bad one" under the new format, you have a full hour to worry about. As much as I love the post shows, I'm not sure I would bump up my tier to keep getting them if you put them at the $5 category. Even if it is still cheap, keep in mind that's asking for 5 times more money to get what would previously have been $1 content.

All I remember about paddington 1 was there was a product placement for beats like every 5 minuets

I listened, thanks for sharing your opinion! :) -Jackson

The Boys

I like the post-show, but if you guys wanna do something else for a little extra money then sure. I'm down for that. 1 buck for about 100minutes of extra content a week is piss cheap, 5 bucks for 120minutes is still piss cheap.

I think the 5$ for 2 1hr podcasts a month would be cool

might as well drop my opinions, expectations and my assumptions about the topic well i am not an expert and i dont have actual experience in these matters so dont take me too seriously first in the current situation, everything is rather good, we have the official podcast and patrons get the pre-postshow, the postshow is a nice thing since its a shorter version of the podcast so it is very much a content that is easy to digest, which is nice value for the 1$, however i understand that the postshows "aged" i guess and a change might be for the best (i very much still enjoy the postshow but it does seem that you guys sometimes struggle to find things to talk about so i understand if you want to change things at some point) Now for the assumptions of what are the future plans from what i understand in this post, the idea presented is to leave the official podcast as it is, cancel the 4 times a month ~20 minute 1$ episodes and replace them with 2 times a month ~60 minutes full extra episodes for 5$ for the 1$ patrons the instead get to join a channel during the official podcast where they can chat and the chat will be visible to you guys to consider interacting with it during the show i had to reread the post a bit to make sure i take the best guess as to what it actually says, and the reason is because i jump to conclusions a bit faster than i read and they mix up with my own ideas and expectations i dont know if its anywhere near a good idea, but i guess i can voice my thoughts as a reference, an idea or at least as something that will spur any actual good ideas instead And here is my misconception of the changes that are proposed After i first read the article i dont think i got the first part wrong, it is straight forward ~20 minues 4 times a month for 1$ becomes ~60 minutes 2 times a month for 5$ the second part is where my fantasy went wild and i somehow came to a conclusion that instead of having callouts during the show, they will be moved to a separate new show for 1$ patrons, it also made sense to me where the main show will be more of a complete thing where you just have the main part where you interact with the guest and at the end where you ask the guest to plug his things, you will maybe call out some supporters from community based on your personal preference, or bring out a "hall of fame" question that even the guest can respond to, just as a closure to the episode. And the part where you actually read the patron questions that feels to me somewhat detached from the show with the guest, will be the new 1$ patron reward and the questions will no longer need the character limit because in the new show you could dedicate complete episodes to fan-fiction (this may be as good place as any to mention that i am slightly amused at how much fun did you make of Kaya reading stuff, in spite of the fact that english is not his native language) anyway since this post is already too long and no one is probably reading this far i may as well pitch my own idea where you play a "mystery game". Well its not intended as a mystery game but the idea was that you guys play a game and make a commentary as you play it, similar to football commentary on the radio i guess. You would not need to change the format of it being just an audio track, and the main point of it is to get things going at the start of the show and start a conversation, it does not have to be completely dedicated to the game. The type of game also probably does not matter, just play whatever convenient game where all 4 of you can participate at least as a spectator (or whatever the actual number of you guys runs the show, is it ok to assume how many of you are there? (i dont know what is safe to assume anymore, probably everything that is not voiced)). The reason for it being a mystery game is because i dont have real faith in getting a proper description of the gameplay that is taking place, and the reason is the sheer difficulty of actually playing a game and providing commentary, increase the difficulty of doing it in readio format where you cant rely on the listener to see what you see and than imagine the colorful descriptions Charlie provides and it becomes anyones guess of whats actually happening. Anyway the way i can see an actual episode of this is that at the beginning you guys play a whatever free to play game or any game that someone brings for show and tell, you fill whatever time it takes to play a round of the game, or until you are satisfied/fed up with the game, up to 30 minutes (probably/hopefully less) and the rest of the show is normal talking about the stuff that comes up during the game or whatever (or you just play more shit we cant see, the part where you commented on some of the twitch streamers sounded somewhat interesting anyway, i dont really see how this is different) At this point i can probably go full retard and drop an opinion/topic that bothers me and is unrelated. And that is my hate towards multiplayer games. I played league of legends for two ears around 2010~2012, than i hated the game, afterwards i played some other mobas, and today i realize that the games are not that bad, i just dont want to interact with the people. And i cant even blame the community, its just a sheer nature of the multiplayer where people are encouraged to do their best, but after a days work, maybe i dont want to spend half an hour getting shat on by other people, potentially even my own teammates... And i guess its presented by many games today, at least i have a delusion that people are slowly distancing themselves from multiplayer content. There are definitely a lot of people who quit league of legends, dota is awesome but it struggles to get new players, the other day i read that wargaming is merging servers, several new multiplayer games just "come out and die", like lawbreakers could probably have been a good game, but i have no reason to play it since there is no singleplayer mode, and if i want to play a multiplayer fps i have several other options, maybe that is the reason why mupltiplayer games seem to like they are in a decline, the market may be saturated by them :S some franchises have die-hard communities, some developers "force" communities to play, by smart marketing i guess... and there are only so many people that are willing to dedicate to playing a game for a long time, add the issue of comparing actual quality of games, and i get a general idea of why several games that come out have some playerbase at the release and quickly disappear after a couple months. In that sense the mupltiplayer games are not different from singleplayer ones, but when you play a singleplayer game, you finish it and you get an experience from it, when you play a multiplayer game, you might be done with the game in a similar amount of time, but you usually get the same base pvp interaction as in other games and there is a higher possibility that you will quit upset about the game, you might still quit singleplayer games in the same manner but i dont think it is the same situation where you stop playing a game because its bad (which can be avoided if you read feedback from players), or you stop playing because of player to player interaction (which is probably hard to review because you dont know who will you get in the next game and people might migrate in seasons from game to game i guess so things true this week will be different next week, possibly even in response to a positive review, you write somewhere that there is a positive community and the next moment you have a bunch of assholes interacting amongst each other because all of them expected positive community but instead they get each other...), of course there are games that are somewhat interesting but have some gameplay issues on top having a multiplayer tag, and that seems very much fatal these days as examples i guess i can name Counter-strike i dont think its a bad game but dont really know anyone who still plays the game and it still has top sales on steam (die-hard community i guess), next is Overwatch which is in no way a good game in my opinion but i can acknowledge that it is relatively well made in terms of technical things and balance, but i think a lot of marketing and promotion of the game is the reason of its success ok i probably went on for a while i guess its time to wrap it up, i guess a mod will delete this post for spam anyway which is understandable, but i get some satisfaction in expressing my opinions even though no one is listening (actually its better if no one responds to it, i would completely understand if many people disagree with me, but that does not mean i enjoy it, similar to multiplayer games, it is completely understandable that you will lose against various people and that your teammates probably have their own circumstances but that does not mean i enjoy the interaction... yeah im a bad person)

Definitely keep the post-shows as they are right now.

Mate I’ll throw all my money at you for more content

I would love to keep the post shows for 1 dollar. Please dont get rid of them :)

Single extra episode* My bad.

The post shows certainly aren't the best, I love them though. I like to let them stack up and listen to them all during homework sessions (Like I'm doing right now, The Great Gatsby is so fucking boring I'm googling everything.) Unfortunately, I don't think I'd pay 5 dollars for a single episode of the podcast.

I would say it's although it's the same amount of times worth of podcast, 2 longer podcasts are going to have higher quality content than 4 smaller ones.

Hmmm, its an interesting idea but wouldn't that be essentially quintupling the price for the same length of content? I do like the little 20-30 min episodes a lot, as they fill small chunks of time nicely, but i do agree longer post shows would also be nice. You guys do deserve the money but it could put a lot of people off. Just my 2 Australian cents lol

I agree, the post shows are not exactly the best, but I love them anyway. I do support the change however. I personally don't like the idea of live questions I the discord but I'm not totally against it.

Very much in favor for the 1hour postshows.

I saw the post shows being "lil bites" of extra content, like a tasty and relaxing dessert after a meal. I'll surely miss it, but I also like taking questions idea. Idk how you would manage so many questions at once or ppl spamming the same or other questions in the discord but i like where that idea is going.

I have been going back through all the postshows and a lot of them are as good if not better than the regular podcast to me. It would be cool to have a little bit more content spread out rather than a little bit less more often though
