The babadook is a metaphor for the mom’s trauma and her emotional abuse towards the children. The Babadook appears more often the less she takes her meds, and the older kid specifically doesn’t interact with the mom after moving out because she won’t work on her problem. In the end, the Babadook being trapped in the basement is saying something about how trauma can’t be eliminated but can be contained and worked on. Obviously the monster is also real, but one of the premises of the movie is that the Mom is kind of complicit in the monster terrorizing the kids.

“Lights out” made me be scared of the dark when I was a 17 year old boy I didn’t go to bed with the lights out for a week the concept made me think there was a monster always in the dark and I saw it at 11pm and it was the week I was the only one in the house while my family was on vacation so easy to say I didn’t get sleep that week

Companionship is not just holding hands 24/7 you crazy man. - Charlie and Kaya are wrong, Tarantino is one of the better directors around - There was a jump scare in a disaster movie trailer where some chick gets decapitated by a bus after poking her head out of a manhole cover, and I let out a loud barking laugh. Jump scares honestly only work if you’re on edge, if you in the “ready to be scared” mood. Otherwise, they’re usually just funny. - I love that Jacksons initial reaction to haunting is to immediately give up and kill himself. Like I’m just imagining a ghost appears in front of him and him just going “Well I’ve had a okay life” and then immediately getting up and jumping out of a window. - The single best world to go to is would be Dragonball, 2 years before Bulma and Goku meet. Wish to become one of Frieza’s race with his specific mutation. Join Z fighters. Always get rez’d. - Overall, good episode, but I’m concerned about people saying that this has become a paid podcast. But fans complain about everything, so fuck those guys.

This was awesome guys! The old bonus episodes were good too, but I much prefer fewer, longer episodes. Quality over quantity and all that. Also, great job editing, Andrew! Sounds great even with the busted-ass earbuds I use at work.

i dont know, at some point while listening i thought "we did not have anything to talk about except movies in the 20 minutes so lets change the format and talk about movies for the whole hour" still i dont know, it seems reasonable that it probably is easier to talk about [whatever] when you are not on the clock and can talk for extended time, instead of having a time window and wondering whether its even worth to start a conversation in the given time limit, on top of it being a pre-post show and being concerned with both shows overlapping or something... and at the end of the day if i want my 20 minute episodes, i dont have to listen to this in one go... also one option to stop fearing random sounds in the night is to have actual random sounds in the night and rationally explaining them with reason. Think about it this way if you watch 10 horror movies and the random sound is always something harmful, if you hear a coin or whatever drop in the night, you will probably jump to conclusions... on the other hand if your dog makes constant noise every night, you will get used to it, and thats when the murderer strikes

I think this is well worth it. The bonus shows i would normally let stack up for a while so i could smash a few out because i listen to the podcast while i work. The conversation had a flow and some of the pre/post show episodes just felt like they would be cut off or no offence like you guys didn't want to be there because some episodes it was "What to talk about now". You can tell you guys felt more comfortable and enjoyed this style. Basically 3 weeks of pre/post shows wrapped into 1 full episode. That's just my opinion anyways love your work like always guys and hoping the bonus episodes stay. - Bashy McGashy
