It didn't promise to be THE game for competitive players, though. We know Generation 8 is next year, and Competitive Video Game Championships is using Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon again, but with some really cool rulesets that change every few months. Let's Go has always been said to be a stepping stone for casual players to get into the series, and for long time fans to revisit Kanto with a new spin on it.

I love how all the comments are about Pokémon aha. Andrew, just wanted to say that your information about Let's Go is a little incorrect. When you enter the pewter gym, the guide (who has been in every game, even Red, Blue and Yellow) asks if you have a grass or water Pokémon to take on the gym, and you have to have it in your party to show it to him. In Yellow, the guide tells you that Pikachu will be useless against Brock as Electric moves aren't effective against ground types.

Pokémon has a pretty big competitive scene, the Lets Go franchise is really a slap in the face to those people
