Bonus #68: Nintendo Bad

Hey everyone,

Did you know Nintendo is literally the worst gaming company around right now? Andrew explains why in this bonus episode.

Jackson

Comments

andrew is annoying as fuck at his worst but kaya is a clown lmao

Corey

Did they sell after this?

Nathan

this episode did not age well

Should’ve listened to Jackson and held that Bitcoin

Man, Kaya is getting more paranoid by the day. All of those right-wing channels and blogs have financial and ideological incentives to push the narrative that everyone is being attacked by sjw soyboy lib-cucks. But they’re guilty of doing the exact same fear-mongering that they claim is going on about white supremacy, by focusing only on a bunch of idiots whining on the internet and claiming it’s the end of the world.

I was going to post a larger reply, but the new episode talked about the tournament so I chimed in there instead. Short version of it is Smash Ultimate has online play so Slippi could be viewed as a substitute in Nintendo's eyes. Also, Melee fans don't hold Nintendo up. The ones that I know didn't even want to play Brawl, pretty sure they aren't making up a notable chunk of Nintendo's income.

Me

that was just a low ball number too. That's assuming they're all tier 1 subs which they aren't. I think around 100k a month (from twitch alone) is the safer number to bet.

Squillz

In order for them to host the tournament, they would've had to use Slippy. There's no online functionality for Brawl so they're not able to play the game online. They are in their right to take the tournament down because it is their asset. However it's really shitty for them to tear down the community that holds them up.

Squillz

From what I remember, Nintendo's official statement on the cease & desist was because the online mod would require a pirated version of the game and "they could not condone such a thing." A little ridiculous to assume professional melee players don't own physical copies of the game, but I get it on a technicality sense. What makes a lot more sense is applying Andrew's "Mario Battle Royale vs. Super Mario 35" argument to Emulated SSB Melee vs. Actually online supported SSB Ultimate. It's practically the same comparison, sorry that COVID will prevent wavedashing this year they but could've at least had some event.

I don't remember this being posted, must've been a fever dream.

I think caya’s been watching too much anti-sjw youtube

I don't understand charlie. They are paying for the music. Are you crazy, if I play a song on spotify, spotify pays out a small sum to the artist or whoever published the song. How is that not paying for it???? Wuuuuttt?

Curtis Leavitt

Nintendo wouldn’t even know how to play this podcast

Ever after Charlie said he made around 77k a month just off of twitch I kinda really started realizing how much money some of these dudes make. Shits crazy

Kaya lives in a world where woke 16 year olds on Twitter is a bigger issue than covid.

Shaun Watkins

why dont I have access to the discord anymore? is this a patreon issue or an issue on my end?

crowpen

*cough* *cough* EA

Splat_tim17

Everyone uses spotify for streaming and exploring music for the most part. Plus they still get money per play. Its safe and they don't really have to be that involved for the money. Not really a reason not to.

Holly

I’m so fucking erect

Alex Michael Christensen

Why would anyone want their music on Spotify then?

Alesia Montes

I was there!
