They tried to have good games with gen 5 but people complained so they went back to the original way. Also pokemon has never been phenomenal. Not once has anyone picked up a pokemon game and said this is game of the year. The premise of pokemon makes it hard to really improve on the game in any meaningful way aside from making a good story and challenging ai for battles.

Pokémon literally HAS always been bad. Recently binged all the games and they’re all the same practically. There is no “huge jump” between Gens—ever. Gen 5 and 4 are the highlights of the franchise, as they’re the most difficult in my opinion. Ultra Sun and Moon aren’t awful either surprisingly. But Pokémon has never BEEN that amazing. It’s a game that’s amazing when you’re a kid.

Gamefreak pretty much stole from Altus’s SMT and Persona games with the whole capturing monsters thing way way back. Also has anyone played Pokémon Gale of Darkness? It’s so fucking good and it’s not made by gamefreak you’ll love it if u wanna play good Pokémon game.

Also, funny thing regarding both Game Freak and the Wii U. Back in 2015 (when the Wii U was Nintendo's primary console), Game Freak developed a game (which was published by Sega) called "Tembo the Badass Elephant" that released on every home console (and PC) EXCEPT Wii U. Even fucking Game Freak wanted nothing to do with the Wii U.

Basically after Pokemon came out, the Pokemon Company was formed which is co-owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures (the company that makes the cards and had helped make the 3D models for the Pokemon ever since Stadium on the N64 and also made the Detective Pikachu game). So, Game Freak does have partial ownership of the franchise. Also, Nintendo helped with the development for Pokemon Emerald and also developed both of the Pokemon Stadium games, so Nintendo has had SOME involvement in the development of the games in the past but haven't been involved pretty much at all recently.

I liked this reveal more than SwSh's... I thought the D&P looked alright for a remake being made by another team and Arceus looks very promising even in the graphics department. Love Andrew, but some of his takes are like why? Lol SwSh deserved his hate tho, but that's my own opinion

Andrew at this point just wants to be contrary at this point. Literally everywhere I've looked people have called the new games good looking. I'm just curious. At what level are graphics "good enough" for Andrew and the boys. Cause I'm confused. I though it looked fine and like a clear improvement over sword and shield graphically. At this point I'm convinced Andrew never liked Pokémon and only liked the first few because he was a child.
