I love how often they shit on reddit despite at least half of them clearly being redditors lmao. I'll also never understand the hate for moderators in general. I mean it is dumb for mods to complain about not getting paid for a voluntary thing, but mods have also been around since the old internet. Forums and things like that couldn't function without them and I don't see anything wrong with caring about a community and volunteering a bit of time to help keep it clean.

2022-07-21 19:44:50 +0000 UTCClarification on the FFXIV billboard fiasco for those who care. Since Roleplay clubs blew up during covid, venues have been uping the ante of advertising their roleplay clubs to attract players as there's massive saturation. This stunt blew up hard even though short lived. Everyone in the community knew about this and spread through the gaming communities on the internet. It even got on national american news. A rumor spread that it costed them 12K to advertise on the billboard. It only costed roughly 200$ USD. It was advertised on two locations, ironically one of them being close to Square Enix americas headquarters. It followed all requirements that Square Enix asks for content creation. Like andrew said the biggest issue was using datamined clothing, and posing a character not possible through normal gameplay. It required third party Tools that square enix does not support and is against TOS. Modding is widely adopted but is treated as a don't ask, don't tell within the community. The community was initially unanimously against it as Roleplayers were upset that within the discord and the website of the club they offered ERP and felt it tarnished legitimate roleplay and social club gatherings (even though almost all clubs do ERP to some degree). While none roleplayers thought it was hilariously cringe and meme'd it like crazy. At the end of the day the billboard was taken down. No one was sued and just turned into a giant meme within the community, with the club ultimately benefiting from it.

2022-07-20 13:38:25 +0000 UTCI love that Jackson was calling y’all out on the whole Reddit discussion. Andrew then says that you change it up each time and it’s different. Lmao no it’s not. It’s the same thing. “Reddit sucks”. Then you go to a popular subreddit to make fun of a post that means nothing. It’s the same stuff.
