but essentially the idea is that before the advent of nuclear energy, no technological advancement had ever had the potential to wipe out the human race. no amount of gunpowder will end the human race. coal or steam power will never end the human race. cars will never end the human race, etc. etc. nuclear energy, despite being a net boon society, was the first technological advancement that could literally end human life if something goes wrong. ai is in a similar boat. that's all jackson was saying.
