so the raptors in jurassic park were based off of deinonychus. they can grow up to 11 feet in length and i believe they were 3-ish feet tall. in the movie they ofc were exaggerated and didn’t add the feathers cause like kaya said, they thought it would look boring and not as intimidating. some more info that’s super cool is that their large claws on their feet were 5 inches long. this was likely used to hold prey in place and to rip it apart. their feathers are for balance since they would latch onto the side(s) of whatever creature they were hunting/killing. they were also incredibly strong despite their smaller and lighter build. their bite force is between 4,100 and 8,200 newtons. knowing all of this, i don’t think the feathers on dinosaurs make them any less scary. sure one might look like an overgrown chicken, but that chicken has a stronger bite force than an american alligator. plus they also look cool with feathers! anyways, enjoy the info :)
