341: The Harry Potter Debate

Oh, Christ. Here we go again.

Thanks,
Jackson

Comments

As a Harry Potter semi fan and not a dream fan this episode is a solid 8.4/10 I love agrements like these

Copycat

Charlie’s complaints about off screen deaths in movies is the worst thing I’ve heard in a while. He literally brings up Robert Baratheons death in GoT being a good example of an on screen death, but he literally died off screen. He’s so determined to convince himself that’s he’s right that he can’t even get the facts right. Charlie really needs to be spoon fed everything while watching movies?

squidbate

yoooo official podcast doing reruns now? literal exact same arguments and takes for 40mins of another episode 🔥🔥🔥😻🤟

Cyonated

Pfftt. Yeah in Alabama (I know I don't WANTA to live here I'm stuck here for personal reasons) it's averaging 95F this time of the year every year. Often it breachs 100F.

DeathClaw13

This is the first episode of the podcast which I really didn’t enjoy. Andrew seems to be in a very pedantic mood with pretty much everyone and comes across as pretty condescending and big headed. Not sure what happened but the vibes are definitely off on this one.

Abracadvre

... the off screen deaths are very important. The Thestrals. Jackson is right, it's in Harry's point of view. That's why Cedrics death was so intense. We're actually comparing a franchise for 13 year old girls to John Wick lmao.

missmosh

Mad-eye moody and the Weasley brother died in deathly hallows part one when they're hiding Harry and running

Guys wrap up the argument Harry Potter is nerd shit let's talk about manly stuff like football and women

NCR Vet

Charlie why do you have this intrinsic need to prove that deep down you have the correct opinion. Was that always the case. Andrew just liked the movie. He was constantly trying to wrap up the conversation but each time you had to reintroduce your argument and quickly make sure Andrew knows his opinion is wrong. Just let it go, no one wants to hear the same complaint with different examples for a whole episode.

pip and Perry’s purple podcast

Is there a reason why this hasn’t been uploaded to Spotify yet?

Jackson getting COVID and then getting sick way more often after the initial COVID infection is because it has a chance of severely harming our immune systems when we get infected. sorry but that's gonna happen forever now

Rhys

it was 111 degrees F in texas where i live yesterday. 93 is winter weather

henry tibbs

L episode

Dante

The episodes have been going up on Spotify much later than usual... even later than the YouTube uploads. Any reason for this ?

Richard Wagner

I would love to hear their thoughts on no country for old men

Ulan Okai

More like bored burgers because these americans aren't having any fun

Karac Smith

341: I don't have the same opinion as you, let's argue.

Stephen

Andrew is that actual worst

Jaden Otte

I actually agree with Charlie here, I dont think the off screen deaths ruin the movie like he does, BUT it would have more emotional weight to see something happen

I love whenever Andrew brings up the marathon that got cancelled due to hot weather when he couldn’t even run a mile in a flat warehouse during Charlie’s presidential fitness test video from a couple years back

It's intended to be Harry's point of view, thus none of those deaths are shown on-screen.

All the Harry Potter characters killed off screen were killed off page in the book

Andrew is hilarious. These comments suck

Holden Windbigler

I cringe whenever they talk about Australia. LMAO so much misinformation

Also I gotta say as somebody who watched the movies and read the books I’m on Andrew and Jackson’s side. I don’t know why you would need to visually SEE the MOMENT of death for every single character. The movie is during a massive war. It’s not realistic for Harry to personally witness every single person he knows actually die. It’s almost more impactful and emotional that they die in such a “sudden/usual” way because that’s war. It also shows that like.. Harry can’t be THERE personally to save everybody. Not every death is some heroic death or has some sort of meaning or whatever. Seeing that they just died just like so almost.. meaninglessly is kind of more tragic. War isn’t like glamorous and meaningful it’s just sad and tragic. And if Harry wasn’t personally with them it wouldn’t make sense to show the death on screen anyway.

forreal. he made 2 fucking videos shitting on the redditors and all of a sudden hes on their side? super fast switchup there

Dante

how can someone say so much L and be serious

speedlemon

i work in a welding factory with no A/C or fans in humid 96° weather euros are pussies

speedlemon

So much L from Charlie this episode. Not only did the deaths happen similar to how they did in the books, but having all these deaths happen off screen and having Harry be suddenly confronted with it with little explanation or time to grieve was an excellent way to make the deaths more impactful. Not every death needs to be a bit sad thing especially when it's the end of the series

Hello, my great uncle is Lieutenant Colonel Fred Beattie of the 1st black watch, look him up. He was personal bodyguard to Elizabeth II and I can tell you for a fact that If you actually posed a threat to any of his men or the late queen he would royally fuck you up until you were unrecognisable.

Krauzuz

Not to mention he has some of the worst taste in the world. Most of the fanbase generally disagrees with what he does and does not find good😂 plus the fact that he's a self proclaimed "man child who watches too many cartoons"

Jon App

From Leeds in England. Have full fibre so internets fine, don’t have ac but there’s probably only one week a year where we’d benefit from it, infrastructure is fine? Don’t really get that? Like some roads have a few potholes but nothing is crumbling? Think the main issues we have at the minute are within government and what they prioritise. Will agree though Londons a fucking shithole, couldn’t pay me to live there

Andrew’s Try Not to Act Like A Lobotomite Challenge: BRUTAL

Wade

How is Andrew's Biggest goal is to be Movie Producer/Director but he cannot grab a simple audience concept. 🤔

Prashant Ghimire

I also think Charlie is missing a fundamental point in the Harry Potter movies which is that they are supposed to be following Harry’s journey from Harry’s point of view. Again just like Jackson said the last scene would have definitely had less impact if we were shown their deaths before Harry found out as it gave a lot more of that “shell-shocked” feel to that scene.

Devon

Jackson actually had the right take on the final battle in Deathly Hallows pt 2 that got glossed over really quick. The whole series is following Harry and it actually holds more weight and is more realistic that all these people died in the battle without any heroic last moments or him even knowing what their last moments were like. Gives that actual real life war feel where no one is safe to that battle. Pretty much exactly how Charlie said Fred is fighting alongside the others the last time you see him then he’s just dead next time he is shows. That is exactly how a real war would be sometimes people just get unceremoniously one-tapped. It gives more weight to how Harry would actually be feeling at that end of that battle.

Devon

Hahah charile just admitted defeat to Reddit😂 he’s such an hypocrite one week he’s trashing Reddit users the next week he’s on the side of the neck beards. One video on the topic and he’s talking about how the boycott is working, the next video he’s talking about how him and the neck beards lost the battle against the giant evil corporation named Reddit. Boo hoo cry about it Charlie you fucking victim millionaire

Satan

Jackson should take a permanent vacation from the official podcast

Satan

I love that Charlie's list of characters killed off screen include Peter Pettigrew and Tonks. Yeah, real fucking bummer we didn't see Rat Man get killed, that would have completely changed the movie for the better. And Tonks, that super important character, she was.... really there, sometimes.

12TrillionIQ

Harry Potter overrated lol

RinBburner

Glad to have this today. Needed something to help. Lost a family friend unexpectedly today. know him my whole life like the grandpa I never had. Good to have something fun to pick me up.

Josh

Charlie’s points on the Potter movies should not be taken seriously considering he likes the worst one (Half Blood) and said his favorite moment was a scene accidentally thought was in it when it was actually from 8 (Deathly Hallows 2) a movie he hated….

AlejoHernez99

Didnt the hagrid actor actually die of a heart attacck in real life?
