An Update On Content Part 2 - 2024

It's me again. Jackson. Just wanted to drop in and update everyone after yesterday's posts. I've read all of the comments and appreciate the overall sentiment and communication from everyone. Just wanted to add an additional content update to keep you all posted. I have already posted it to the Discord and updated the previous post, so this may be old news to some.
On The Topic Of Bonuses
The news that bonuses would be stopping for the foreseeable future was obviously not going to go over super well. We definitely knew that was going to be a bitter pill to swallow and Kaya and myself empathise with those of you who feel that it sucks that they had to stop. We got to talking some more about it and came up with a solution that won't necessarily replace the bonuses, but will instead hopefully alleviate some of the feelings that many of you may or may not have had upon reading the post yesterday.
The new plan is that we'll be posting a new Bonus Episode each month with just myself and Kaya (Andrew and Charlie are free to join as well, but won't be required to as it makes scheduling far easier). These bonuses will basically be the same in terms of length as the bonuses you've received in the past, but they'll just be with two less hosts. We're thinking about ways to spice these episodes up and offer a unique twist that sets them apart from the show itself. This bonus episode will be exclusive to the Patreon.
So, to sum up this brief change, you'll now be getting 4 Main Episodes, 1 Bonus Kaya and Jackson episode when that starts, 4 Red Thread episodes, 2 Red Thread After Report episodes when that starts, 4 Movie Nights, 2 Criminally Stupid episodes when it returns and a partridge in a pear tree. All either EXCLUSIVE to the patreon, or if not exclusive, EARLY and AD-FREE.
We hope that this news and update makes up for the disappointment from yesterday! Thank you so much to everyone who sent in constructive criticism and genuinely kind and thoughtful supportive messages as well. I really appreciate it! Please feel free to let us know your thoughts below! This will be the last time you'll hear from me on the subject of content updates for a while, though, as we make the above happen!

It's kinda shocking and frankly disappointing to see how many "fans" can so casually character assassinate someone based on an hour or 2 conversation they take part in each week. You know nothing about Andrew or his life or what he wants to do with the career he's built (which is substantially more than what most of you people that are shit talking him will ever amount to). It's one thing to be upset about the recent changes but saying Andrew is entitled or lazy is genuinely laughable to me. Perhaps look internally as to why you are seething in the comments about minor changes to the shows and if you're really that upset, unsub. Your 5 really doesn't entitle you to be an asshole

I would honestly prefer the bonus episodes over say the red thread and just include wendigoon as a semi replacement for Andrew on them. As I don’t think there’s another show or anything that’s taking Andrew’s time and probably just wants more time either to himself or creatively. The official podcast has always been my home for podcasts, I try others and like them but this was where I started. I’ve subbed on and off since the start based on whether I had the money to continue it. I really hope this doesn’t continue down the route of seeing less of them in the main episodes as well. Regardless I wish you all the best and as long as the content seems worth it going forward I’ll stay subscribed for the most part

The simplest method of watching the podcast without ads is to use uBlock Origin and SponsorBlock to watch the YouTube edition. On mobile, use YouTube ReVanced to get the same effect. If you want to listen offline in a manner similar to what you've gotten in this Patreon feed, simply make use of yt-dlp. On Windows, simply install the Windows App Installer and run 'winget install yt-dlp' on the command prompt. Use 'cd' to enter the folder you want to download the episodes to, and run 'yt-dlp -xw --sponsorblock-remove "sponsor" https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL98pDn4e_4NKxUaObW0XaMcMyyEeBxT2l '. I use Linux, so for me I keep this up to date using a cronjob (if you use mac or Linux you should be able to use this method), I believe Windows has an equivalent called schtasks. They even did a bit a while back where they calculated the total time everyone spent talking per episode and Charlie and Jackson where in the bottom. Some people are just quiet or don't have much to say on particular topics. There's been many topics where Kaya or Andrew barely say a word, for example, because they have no real input on the topic. I get complaining about the bonus changing, but people here complaining about things that have always been a part of the podcast lmfao. Either way idc, I hate ads. That's why I pay here. Do the bonuses however you guys want. I know some of you are too busy to commit that much time to the podcast, so you do you.

Jackson should be getting the biggest cut, then Kaya, then Charlie (sure, Charlie doesn’t talk a lot, but at least he’s there and does contribute to some extent, though he typically needs to be prompted to. A lot of people do start listening to the podcast solely because of Charlie as well), followed by Wendigoon and Andrew. I don’t think Charlie or Andrew have come out and said they intend to leave the podcast (although Andrew did have that rant about not liking the podcast anymore on a now deleted episode.) But the speculation does stem from Charlie and Andrew’s constant lack of engagement. Whether it be hardly talking during topics, not having topics to bring up, not being engaged on the Patreon or discord, etc. They tend to show up for the episode, barely talk or engage in the conversations, then leave without any further engagement with the audience like Kaya and Jackson. On top of this, Charlie had a video a year or so ago now where he was talking about how some people just call him the “react guy.” In that video, he said (and I paraphrase here) that he is “more than just a reaction guy or a podcaster. That (he) also does a lot of amazing things like the esports league, backyard wrestling, and making music.” Notice how the podcast was not listed in the “greater things.” Lastly the podcast moved off of Charlie’s main channel and on to its own. Granted that does allow for more freedom for the podcast, but when you look at all this together, it really does seem like Andrew and Charlie are completely over the podcast and are looking for a way out. Hope what I said makes sense. Again, it’s all speculation but that’s kinda where things are at.

Like I said, I think guests can be interesting, some of my favorite episodes are with Doug and Josh. Seriously though, we'd totally get it if Andrew and Charlie actually gave a shit anymore. In the past few months, they've done fuck all when it comes to interesting topics. Most of the time Charlie says two sentences per episode. Andrew is cocky as hell and needs to be right about everything he says or he throws a fit. I genuinely think this may be the start of the death of the podcast. Half of the hosts just don't put any effort in anymore, we barely see any guests anymore, all these new podcasts are coming out, and the little bonus content we get is missing half the cast (Not counting Red Thread) With all the shit that's happened in the last few months I do think this podcast may die in the next year or so. Calling it now, we'll see if I'm right in due time.

The reason being is that it focuses on that specific person and what they do. Sure, there have been some guests that I did enjoy (Josh, Doug, a few of the older ones like PewDiePie and IHE), but for the most part, when they get these guests that I have never in my life heard of nor what they do, I'm just not really bought in at all. It limits the conversation around the guests and what they do as opposed to the boys being able to talk about whatever else is going on or any other topic. I guess it comes down to personal preference - I honestly prefer listening to the boys talk about whatever topic they have brought up/whatever is currently going on. Guests drive the conversation around them which is limiting imo and it's especially boring when I have not interest or knowledge of the guest.

To me the news that the bonuses were stopping wasn't too upsetting because I'd rather have quality over quantity and knowing how busy most of the boys are I understand how easy it would be to have burn out. This is my favorite show by far and I'm just glad to have something to look forward to every week. Seeing the benefit of Charlie and Andrew being more energetic in the mainline episodes and having more to talk about would be worth giving up the bonuses in my eyes.
