Red Thread #26 - The Voynich Manuscript

Comments

Alchemists looking for philosophers stone is literally Full Metal Alchemist. Also Professor Quill had Voldemort on the back of his head. Nicholas Flamel was the maker of the Sorcerers stone.

Vincent Shirayuki

Charlotte

Charlotte

Funny how that lined up. Jackson sounds like Pim and Charlie happens to be named Charlie.

OrionTheHoonter

Half way thru and I agree with Charlie, very uninteresting subject matter.

Chris

Personally found the Charlie hater gimmick annoying

Nik

Zetlin

The dynamic of Charlie being unimpressed with everything Jackson was trying to present was so good

Jaro Pennanen

Hi Jackson, please don’t work yourself into a burnout. I really enjoyed the OP. I can’t decide if criminally stupid or OP are my favorite

Simon

Talking about how knowledge was lost or neglected by the future generations after for Rome just reminded me about Boeing.

Leonoymous

After watching smiling friends I can’t help but think of Pim every time jackson talks

Angry dweller

From my understanding, based on nothing but probably false knowledge. The a/ a rule is based on using vowel sounds on the next word. And we say AN herb, so the h is silent. Most h words follow an

Jackson Clarke’s Right Hand

Love me, Jackson

Jackson Clarke’s Right Hand

Never thought I’d hear “rule of two” and “Jeffery Epstein” in the same sentence

Alex Bryda

I hope you guys do a few more of these “lost language” episodes it’s pretty cool to learn about. Maybe something with the people who communicated with ropes? Something like that :) love u guys

Jacob Barks

Basic rule of thumb is if a book is full of gibberish with pictures of naked women. Its either some wanna be artistic person who isntnvery original or its porno

The benedictine order was one of the oldest powerful monastic orders in Italy at the time as far as secret societies in Italy goes

Khalil

Erb is how you pronounce because that’s how it’s or in Latin.. plus we’re American so whatever we say goes. Happy Freedom Day everyone!

Greg

I’m going to touch you Jackson

Unknown Jpeg

This is especially true in cases where the word is adopted from another language because the British absolutely refuse to learn how to pronounce words from other languages correctly. Herb being one of them (it’s French which kinda lends credence to the h being silent).

Western Philosopher

In like 90% of the cases where Americans and Brits (and people who are basically British like Jackson) disagree on how to pronounce things, the Americans pronounce it the original way and the Brits changed it to be fancy.

Western Philosopher

I’m going off of memory and I’m too lazy to fact check this, but I’m pretty sure that the h being silent in herb is correct insofar as that it’s the original pronunciation. At some point higher class British people started exaggerating the Hs at the beginning of words to differentiate themselves from the lower class who would drop them (Eg ‘ello instead of hello) and they overcompensated and started doing it to words where the H actually was supposed to be silent.

Western Philosopher

I’m gonna decipher it if no one is doing it, give me a week easy shit

Damian Cylkaa
