The older version of hxh jus watch the first episode, kite is basically the reason gon became a hunter. Through kite he learned that ging his father was alive, mito his aunt said that gon parents died in an accident because she didnt want gon to become a hunter. Basically kite is the whole reason the show started and why gon is after ging and why he became a hunter kite is literally the whole inspiration. If gon djdnt meet kite back when he was a kid he would have never became a hunter, the new anime version skipped the whole prologue defi itely watch the first 2 episodes of the 1999 version.
