Romance is one of SDS's biggest thematic elements and without spoiling, the relationship between Meliodas and Elizabeth is the primary plot point of the story. Everything that happens in the series revolves around it. The author has even stated that The Seven Deadly Sins is a romance story at its core, it's just wrapped in a battle shonen exterior.

2019-09-29 23:30:45 +0000 UTCI'm not gonna go against your opinions but if I were to say anything about Ban "somehow" running into the guy who raised him right whenever it gives the backstory about them both, than I would say that a lot of anime has done something like this. Basically where it is a perfectly time coincidence. If I were to just give one example think back to MHA where muscular and deku fought. Muscular just happened to run up on Kota, which was the kid deku was protecting, and they tell us that muscular was the one that just happened to kill his parents. So it was a perfectly timed coincidence but it made the story more of a impact because of the backstory between them both and it gave Deku much more of a reason to protect kota. So this is sort of the same where it makes the backstory they gave more impacting on the moment because they happened to meet each other. I don't know how well this makes sense just trying to explain it but I hope you get what I am saying
