2020-05-25 13:44:22 +0000 UTCThe anime was good and Ed was a good character. The show was to let you know that life is not black and white. At times 1 didn't equal 1. Like in the beginning Ed had a natural talent and won his state alchemist exam and didn't evern had to work for it. Others trained and worked hard for years and didn't pass. Showing equivalent exchange was not real. So that's why human transmutation was never possible. Because no one knows what a human is worth. In real life and in the anime humans try to better them selves. Trying to be more then 1. Ed tried to be a better him self though alchemist and over all be a better person. More then 1. No matter how hard you try if you are a human or homunculus you will all was be 1 or yourself. The only way to be more then yourself is to being another 1 in to the equation. Aka your friends and family. You can try your hardest to make yourself/1 to have more value, but you will just be yourself. Father tried to be better then what he was and took other people to better him self. He was a leech and only ever took from others. Making him a -1. We have people like that in real life. People who only make life worse for others or taking life it self from others. No matter what they are they are a negitve person or a -1. No matter how hard Father tried he was less of what he was, due to the fact he have up his humanity. God told him he never grow past the days in his flask. Meaning he never acknowledged him self and or his humanity never accepting he was enough as is from the beginning. He was a -1 or a bad and negative being so he was punished. Ed was the same way trying to better him self but found out it was wrong and answered God that I'm just a human nothing more. God said you will never be able to do alchemy aka Ed's way of bettering him self. Ed told God I don't need it, I have them aka his friends and family. Then God yelled you got it. Thats the right answer. God knew that Ed found out what everyone who stood in front of him has never got before. That by yourself you can never be better then yourself. But with others you can surpass God. That's why God always said " I am what you call the world, the universe, God, truth, I am all and I am one. I am you." Meaning God is you. Mean if you wish to be better then him or yourself (like a true God wants), you will need more then alchemy aka the power of the god as Scar puts it. Father tried to be more then him self through alchemy aka knowledge and failed. Ed eventually saw that he was just a human no more. And he didn't need alchemy if he had friends and family. He didn't need his portal of truth, alchemy, knowledge. He didn't need a stone aka alchemist cheap trick of being more then what you are and what you need. He knew that he was enough with out alchemy. He told God I have everything I need, I have them. The anime had so many good meaning and life lessons. They can be iterpreted in many ways, thats what make the anime so good. This anime is still one of the top animes for a reason. It gives you a connection not just to the story, characters, art style, music, and yes fighting. It also makes you question life why was this story made what was the message it tried to get thought and what did i take away from this anime. If all you got was some entertainment then I'm happy for you, but if you can't see past the entertainment then I can wait for you to find something in life that after words you are a little better for experiencing it. For many people thats anime. And for some it was this anime. I don't know if you have a tic tock but anime is a trend now. And those who better themselves through the life lessons held in anime. It kills us to see it a trend. People forget that anime is just another form of story telling. So if the story had a lesson you try to learn from it. If it was a story for entertainment then enjoy it. But then it became a trend people only see it as entertainment and never a lesson. We your fans love that you enjoyed it and we want you to get the life lesson and the good feeling of finishing a good story at the end. Like us. But Jonny you force your self to only see it as entertainment. If you held off on hating Ed so hardly you may have found the lesson or a question that you could have found in the anime. You focus so strongly on a episode and forget it the other episodes come together for a bigger picture. Thats why we get on you for missing something important. Chris is just sitting trying to analyze the episode to put it together to get the big picture. Yes sometimes he fails but he tried and got his only conclusions and lessons. Johnny you rag on characters left and right, even on Envy. Envy was a good character it was blinded by the envy it had for humans. It thought it was better then them. But Envy in the end it never excepted it and killed it self before letting a human what Envy thought was less then it, kill it. Envy was genderless thats why I use it for Envy. Johnny you compare anime and thats fine but don't compare the feelings and leasons the anime leaves you with. Every character has a leason to teach. Some more easily noticeable and in depth then others and some characters are just there to be there. We want you to be able to differentiate between the two. And don't just cut off all the characters you don't like. But that's my thoughts on the matter. Sorry for leaving a long comment. Love you guys just hope you can see anime as some of us do. Fuck out here!! and now I realized that the only reason I could continue to watch this show is BECAUSE OF Chris... which is sad :(

2020-05-22 19:04:19 +0000 UTCJohnny you must not have been paying attention if you think Edward was an ass fighter/alchemist. Edward beat Pride by using his soul alchemy skills and he even managed to square up against the old Greed back in episode 13. He beat Slicer too even before that and he held his own against Scar and Envy; he even humiliated envy at his death. He also beat Kimblee in combat though Kimblee used a dirty trick which impaled Ed. He took down the 2 chimeras as well before that too. He’s had so many power plays throughout and he even opened Gods door a while back to promise his little brother that he will save him. Finally, he pulled up against Father and beat his ass. The lack of respect for Edward is sad. He’s shined many times and you’re failing to give credit. Just cos he lost a couple times (realistic btw) doesn’t make him ass at all.

What gives him value is not his ability to do alchemy, but his loved ones. In Ed's eyes, he does not exchange anything of value, yet gains "everything" (his brother, his friends, and his family). He has not been lowered or decreased at all by losing his gate ("I've just been a person from the start"), but has instead increased. That’s why Truth/God congratulated him for understanding what a human is and that connection with family and community is far more important than some magic alchemy

2020-05-22 16:33:21 +0000 UTCHe was already weakened. He lost the souls of Amestris and then at the very end he loses the souls of Xerxes and Greed severely weakens him. Not to mention that the "god" entity didn't sit well in his stomach; his body couldn't handle it and was rejecting it like souls bound to something that it's their body. It makes sense why Ed managed to beat him.
