She agreed with her husband Ozai to have the Fire Lord poisoned, which she did. As punishment for this, she was banished from the Fire Nation. Edit: it aint a spoiler if it just happened in this episode Edit 2: it’s not a spoiler, this episode is the only time this is remotely implied in the whole show. The detailed explanation is in the comics, which few people read.
