Also a fun fact that the picture where it is Irohs son is actually a picture of young Mako

He sang/recorded that song on his death bed and the new voice actor refuses to sing it because that is Mako's song. Mako actually cried during recording because he knew he was going to die soon. He died before this episode aired.

The new voice actor for Iroh takes over in season 3. Though there might be some lines done by the new guy since they sound more like him. Specifically in episode 18 of this season. Or maybe he was a bit sick.

Mako Iwamatsu is the voice actor, he was Japanese-American and he's been in a lot of stuff throughout the decades. He's most known for his parts in Conan the Barbarian, Samurai Jack, TMNT and Avatar...I'm not sure what movie/s but apparently Dante Basco (Zuko) said he and Mako had been cast as "father/son duos" a few times before Avatar :')

I was crying too before you started mocking your brother. It’s the first time I laughed so hard during that moment before.

Honestly I can’t tell the difference in iron voice when I found out a while back that it was difference I started listening to his new voice more but it still sounded like the old voice 🤷🏼♀️

Mako is actually the voice actor for Iroh, he passed during the recording of season 2 n the picture of Irohs “son” is actually a picture of young Mako.

Just a heads up Mako (Iroh VA) actually finished voicing Iroh in all of book 2 but in book 3 his VA backup takes over.

The picture that Iroh placed in the scene where he was at the tree, is a letter which reads: "To General Iroh. See you after we win the war. Your loyal son, Lu Ten".

Mako does actually finish season 2, with his new voice actor playing small parts in them, but after that its just the new voice actor playing Iroh during season 3

Lol I haven't met anyone or seen a single reaction where they didn't cry at irons scene. This is honestly one of my favorite episodes of the series. Even though this is seen as a filler episode it is entertaining and written very well. Irohs scene makes me tear up every time.
