Yah in king Arthur's legend his wife cheated on him for lancelot. Then when lancelot confessed out of guilt King Arthur forgave him but that made lancelot feel way worse because he felt he deserved to be punished. do to the guilt he eventually gose crazy. And him being crazy is wy he is summoned as buserker

Basically the reason lancelot was summoned as a berserker was because he lusted after sabers wife Guinevere (had a wife for image sake since Arthur was a king even though in fate he's a woman). Lancelot had an affair with sabers wife and when saber found out about it rather than punishing him with death as the law demanded she forgave him for having an affair with her wife and simply exiled him. This drove lancelot crazy because his moral compass was telling him he was a sinner and should be punished but yet he recieved no punishment. This went against his honor and knights code and so he was summoned as a berserker. Also what saber wishes for now after seeing all this is not her country's salvation as she previously wanted but rather that she should never have been chosen as king in the first place because she blames herself not only for her country's fall but also the madness and tragic ends she made her friends meet through her kingship

2022-04-06 16:55:42 +0000 UTCClarification on the wish made was that since the grail was rejected by the person it chose (kiritsugu) it granted the wishes of the only 2 remaining master servants it brought kirei back to life and granted his wish for complete chaos by killing mad people in the town and granted gilgameshs wish for reincarnation because the grail determined that those were their true wishes. Kirei however is unable to accept that this desteuction was what he was truly seeking all along and rejects that. Gilgamesh accepts reincarnation readily because he thinks there must be some purpose for him to remain in this world

If you recall that was the dagger he gave to kirei when he acknowledged his graduation as a mage. So kirei passing on the weapon he used to kill her dad while also holding a funeral for him is fucked up in many ways lol
