Bruh... Saber has pretty much the opposite of plot armor in most of F/SN to be frank, being kinda a main char don't gives her the usual will be the strongest there is but on the contrary lead to her being one of the most nerfed there is(especially in Unlimited Blade Works) for most of the time. The part with the luck stat is true though, but it's in combo with her instinct.

Oh and it was actually the combo of her high luck stat + her instinct ability that countered Gae Bolg there, just the luck stat would've been probably not enough.

For example, "Lancer's spear pierced Saber's heart, therefore she died" becomes "Saber died, therefore Lancers spear MUST have pierced her heart". It's crazy stuff. Unfortunately for him, Saber has plot armor and a high luck stat on her side, while Lancer has the curse of not being a main character, as well as having E rank, abysmal luck.

2022-04-27 04:40:12 +0000 UTCAlso to explain Lancers noble phantasm used here: the gae bolg is a noble phantasm that reverses cause and effect its basically a charged up straight spear throw that will always strike the heart. It's like a homing missle that ignores defenses by reversing cause and effect that's why it's highly lethal. The only reason saber survived it in this case is because of her insane luck stats. The saber class has the highest luck of any servant and also the highest magic resistance. Meanwhile, the Lancer class is cursed with the worst luck of any servant so it was a combination of sabers high luck and Lancers terrible luck that led to the blow only wounding saber and not Killin her
