Some things to note about why Rudeus didn't know about the mana disaster. He was at ground zero during the explosion, he had no way to tell it would be such a large scale. Also, he couldn't see Paul's message at Zant Port because that's where he got kidnapped by the Beast people. He had no chance to check out the guild there. Also, Paul hasn't been playing around with women while looking for his family.
