2022-07-26 16:15:09 +0000 UTCThis is a copypaste from some youtube comments ive seen that expand on what happens in the movie without spoiling anything. - Reg previously used his 'zoom' feature back in Episode 4 albeit less dramatically. - People can't survive returning from the 6th Layer or below, but inanimate objects can - maps of the 7th Layer might have been obtained by balloon or recovered from the bodies of deceased delvers. - According to the mangaka, Prushka's name actually derives from the Bulgarian word for 'forgiveness'. - The 5th Layer's Curse actually wasn't mentioned in S1 (though it had been in the manga) - "Loss of all senses, confusion, and self-harm". - I'm not sure Riko did 'get up' anywhere. More likely Reg and Nanachi descended in the nest from above using Reg's retractable arm... - The kids probably made the glowstone bomb themselves - Glowstones are mentioned very early in the manga as 4th grade relics that provide light, but can potentially explode if handled roughly. My guess is that the crossbow is something Nanachi found or made... - 'Sparagmos' and 'Gangway' are indeed relics, but according to "Pointers from Nanachi", 'Shakers' are a weapon Bondrewd created to project darts made from a relic that imposes the Curse if you touch it and 'Far Caress" is an Abyssal creature. - Life Reverberating Stone is the ossified heart of a willing human sacrifice which can be carved into a White Whistle. - As Nanachi pointed out, Bondrewd has copied himself into countless bodies many of which probably aren't even in the Abyss they couldn't kill him if they wanted to. 2022-07-02 19:09:18 +0000 UTCBondrewd, the father we didn't know we all needed. In all honesty he really was kinda like a father figure for them, preparing them for their journey of no return. Bondrewd has seen something horrible coming and he casted off his morality to pursue a way of stopping it which is why we see him do the horrible things that he does. He's sacrificed so much of himself in pursuit of knowledge that the abyss itself is not letting him self-sacrifice anymore, only others. Even though he sacrificed his own body to obtain his white whistle and lost his humanity in the process his personality hasn't changed, he's still a kindly paternal figure but he's so focused on understanding the Abyss that he has lost the ability to understand that other people are capable of suffering. and he can no longer fully comprehend the emotions of others. In a way he's sort of a necessary evil as he's responsible for all the technology that cave raiders have been using which he probably created through inhumane ways You almost don't want to hate him cuz of his "cheerful" personality. He'll praise people for their intelligence or strength or even for thwarting his plans, and he'll do so genuinely, all the while absolutely thrashing them in combat and describing how he's going to dissect them to see what makes them so special. Bondrewd never once stops being polite and paternal though, even at his most monstrous. He was ALWAYS in control. What I really like about Bondrewd and I think is so fascinating about him is that he sees purpose and value in Prushka despite her early, grave injuries. He doesn't view people as disposable. Everyone can contribute, no matter how small. After all, he never actually needed Prushka. He could of formed a similar bond with any of the orphans rather than go through the effort of nursing her back to health. However, unlike us, Bondrewd holds no bias towards Humanity when it comes to scientific progress. So in the exact same vein he is willing to brutally fulfill each person's purpose (including himself) in order to carry out his scientific endeavours. Made in Abyss is one of those rare stories that makes me feel so odd inside everytime I think about it. I think melancholy would be the best way to describe it. It's just so beautiful and horrible at the same time, and then you remember that Riko and gang can never go back up, only down, and it just makes me feel so sad but admirable of how brave they are. It is a beautiful story and I really think everyone should at least watch the anime. Season 2 is scheduled for 12 episodes and is coming in LESS THAN 4 DAYS FROM NOW and I can't wait for it to come out as we all experience again this journey overflowing with curses and blessings...
