2022-07-05 16:05:07 +0000 UTCThe connection that you missed with kirihara the old man who leads Kyoto was that Lelouch and suzaku stayed with kirihara during the beginning of the war against Japan. Suzaku Is the son of the former prime Minister of Japan during the war vs britannia (dead now) and kirihara was part of the Japan loyalist group the 6 houses of Kyoto so he took suzaku in to keep him away from the war. Remember the literal first scene of episode 1 briefly showed this though not in detail. After the war was done, the Ashford family discovered Lelouch was alive and took him into the school where Lelouch is now to shelter him because they were loyalist supporters of his mother who was killed
