What you seem to have missed is that the jlf did not commit suicide Lelouch killed them all by planting a bomb underwater in the area where he predicted the ship would pass over. That bomb triggered the liquid sakuradite inside the ship to explode. This is what diethard was talking about he saw through zeros ploy that zero planned to kill the Jlf though no one else did. Suzaku also questioned it when he said why did the jlf kill themselves? It doesn't make any sense
