I feel like the churches are always the villains these days though lmao, i know theres some truth to it but its like every time it happens im not surprised. Shield Hero did it, Fate series did it in a way too, and Fire Force definitely . Its becoming a little bit of a trope in modern anime

Women with ectopic pregnancies for example can no longer get the life saving treatment they need in half the country thanks to religious wingnuts in power. Castlevania does a good job showing how "faith" is usually a self serving tool that does more damage than good. And science/understanding is condemned because it opposes their faith. Hands clasped in prayer vs hands working. Its funny because in the original castlevania games, the church is a force of good and sypha/belmonts actually work for the church. In the show, basically everything bad that happens is totally on the church lol. They make a lot of changes to the lore but its good stuff so no one really minds it. They used the realities of how the church operates, to make dracula a more sympathetic villian. Its just good writing and makes the world/setting more engaging because we can relate to it better. (and yes, draculas castle is by far the coolest architecture in the show) Id say the weakest part of this show is the pacing could be better. Some episodes are exposition dumps and some are way heavier in the action department. And because the action is sooo good, any episode that has action, is going to be better than one that doesnt.
