My man isnt paying attention for real though, there are kids out there with way too much potential in real life in every different specialty. Whether it be sports, martial arts, literature, music, or anything else. I've seen younger people more capable destroying older people out there in what they do. But the theme of this story is war. Definitely there could've been hundreds of 86ers who fought wars that would've done better than the Federacy soldiers but they are dead because of discrimination and execution. Also the point of having the lil girl into the show is to show the psych of Shin and why he does what he does. I understand why shes annoying because of her childishness and her voice but her essence is what allows viewers examine the psychological part of why Shin does what he does. Not paying attention or understanding it is what makes people not like the show. This is a PTSD simulator anime lmao so i don't blame anyone if they don't understand or can't comprehend what is actually going on. Its definitely something I had to rewatch a couple times to understand.

They are supposed to destroy / take out the "Morpho" since its such a threat to all nations due to its destructive power & long range capabilities. As a distraction they literally got the attention of a large portion of the force from the Legion just so that the Spear Head Squadron can get behind enemy lines to destroy the Morpho. The mission was never for them to fight an an entire army of Legions on their own. As Johnny said they are quite literally the most experienced and skilled out of all the nations due to the extreme circumstances they were put through that had battle hardened them even making them stand out amongst all of the other 86. I don't why you now are just starting to doubt their capabilities when you're this deep into the show.
