It makes sense but in my mind thats not really fixing the relationship between him and the family is it? There kinda just removing him so they can be happy. In the end it wasn't fixable is basically what their getting at after this whole emotional arc they've had through out the series . If this is the direction their going I hope this isn't the end of this story

Giving them another home where he's not there. It's also giving their mom a place to come home to (what his daughter's been trying to prepare), but now a place without all those painful memories she had there before.
