Y'all missed it, but the Evil Sentinel is the same monster that Will saved Sion from in the dungeon in the 1st episode. That's why he was so insistent on defeating them there... he said "you were the cause of my greatest humiliation", he was actually referring to the monsters, not Will. It also directly shows how much stronger he's become, taking them all down.
