It wasn't out of pride that Nami didn't ask Luffy for help. It's just that she thought she could handle the situation herself without risking anyone's life. Remember, she had almost collected all 100 million berries. Why was she going to risk the lives of her only friends when she wasn't even sure they could win? She knows Luffy is strong but strong enough to defeat Arlong? She didn't even see him defeat Don Krieg! At the end of the day, she remains a child traumatized by the fishmen. ;)
