Kirito's sister lost this man in a game and watched his body waste away on a hospital bed for years, and you can see how she'd be worried about him converting to a new game for a job for the government, keeping all the details secret, when he's literally putting his life in danger and coming home looking scared. She's worried about losing him again, it's that simple. Sinon on the other hand, doesn't feel like she can entertain romantic feelings for anyone until she's over her trauma, which is why she told the guy to wait until after the tournament... she needs to focus on herself for now. I guess anytime there's a relationship between a male and female, anime's going to tease some romance, and this show certainly hasn't shied away from that trope, but that's not the focus of this arc by any means. She's annoyed with Kirito for obvious reasons, and embarrassed by her admiration for his strength. And he's also keeping Asuna from getting involved because it's dangerous. The girl did throw herself in front of a blade allowing herself to be killed to protect him. He doesn't want her having anything to do with this, or know anything about it, to keep her safe from doing something reckless.
