The shot at the end was a visualization of their religious belief. That shield maidens will guide you to Valhalla through the ocean. That’s what they believed back in the day. Kinda crazy, but religion is crazy. Don’t know if you noticed but another cool feature was the closer she got to the bottom of the ocean her clothes changed from queen, to warrior and at end a simple farmer, which was when she was the happiest in life.
